Yup Yup, definitely weird....it had really random high points at the 2nd half but gradually turned into a crappy mush.

As for not finishing the series........I've done it on many occasions and I think the reason is why I stop to fully concentrate on my exams or stuff.

JCD, I am surprised you didnt finish watching this, when it aired.

For me the series lost its luster, when L died. He was the most interesting character and after he died, well..... I dunno, it became boring and weird.

The real conclusion to this series should have been Light winning and living on to become the god of his new world..........the ending was literally the fault of Taku, Near got too lucky and I think that Light was a bit sloppy in taking a risk, he should have come up with a fail-safe solution.

Anyways, I did a marathon on Death Note with a friend and it took us 4 sessions.....we could have done it in 3 but episode 19 was faulty and I needed to re-download it. But during those sessiosn we watched movies like Chopper, Bronson.....to take breaks from anime.

I originally watched the series as it aired but only up to episode 28, when I couldn't stay the look of Near and Mello. I don't want to use them as a scapegoat for the downfall of this extraordinary anime/manga series.

The series is great, when Light gets confined in the first part of the series, it becomes a bit boring and I liked L-time nonetheless.

But when L dies....the series becomes a little interesting with Mello's antics but then the true downfall occurs......Light becomes sloppy and Near was not only lucky but the way he was deducing that Light was Kira was just sooooooooooooooooooooooo CONVINCING that made me angry.

Overall, I'm giving it a 9/10 because I didn't feel as much torture as I did originally because I did a marathon of it.....if I had finished it when it finished airing......I might have given it a 8/10.

ITS OVER...........YAY!!!!!!!!! XXXXXXDDDDDDDDDD

So yeah what i put was right then, Near just got lucky.

And i still hate that line from Near towards the end, where he says that as individuals him and Mello arent as good as L, but together they are better, i still hate thay line it TOTALLY and utterly sucks, big time

And Julez i think you missed understood me. i never said that Lights ideals etc should have won, but Light should have won the battle of Interlect which i still say he did, but lost cause a lower class interlect interviened.....

So yeah Light should have won

Right ill give the full version of events in a short statement.

Takada, the news girl, gets caught from Mello, Everyone knows about because its splattered all over news. Light, finds out where Mello is hiding with her, Light then goes to rescue her (and kill Mello) or so his investigation team think, but he kills her using a stashed peice of note.
Mikami thinks that Light will be caught if Takada lets out she knows who Kira is, so he goes to the bank, where he has a kept the "real" Notebook so he can write Takda's name in it, thus allowing Nears men to find out the one they modified was "fake".
It was the irregularity in Mikami's scheduel that gave Near the upper hand so Light put too much trusts into a Monkey, Near didnt outsmart him in anyway. In actual fact Light outsmarted Near easily.

Oh yes, I remember now when Mikami screwed up... well it has been ages since I've watched the anime... Although I don't think Light should have won
His ideal world where he is God just doesn't agree with me

Julez, i disagree, Near didnt outsmart him to an extent, iut was all Mikami (i think that was his name), if he didnt interveiw with what Light had planned then Light would and SHOULD have won. Near imo just got lucky that a lower class interlect interfeared with a higher class interlect and ruined it...........

And Julez you were right with your maybe, Misa did give up her ownership, of the Note while L was intorogating her.........

To answer Funnymrbunny's question, in the anime, shortly after she sees L's name, she's taken into custody by L. Then, I don't remember exactly how it happened, maybe she gave up ownership of her Death Note, but she lost those memories and her eyes, when she got her memories back, she couldn't remember L's name, because she's seen so many names it was hard to know which was his.

And at the end, Light freaked out because he was caught, he had expected his plan to work but Near outsmarted him... so he just lost his senses and tried to run away.

Hey u know how Light freaks out in the end? tats a total pissoff. It made me so angry. the entire anime, Light is portrayed as a intellectual, sophisticated (slightly crazy) person, then he gets all deranged. I bet maybe if he wasnt so deranged, he coullda thought of a way outta this situation. If Light got the shinigami eyes he coulda just pwnt.... speaking of shinigami eyes. I watced this anime a year ago, but recently i got interested in it again. uhm anyway, speaking of shinigami eyes, please remind me why Light couldn't just get Misa to write L's name down from the start? didnt she have shinigami eyes? I forgot, so please just remind me
