The end of the Edo era marked the last time men would live as samurai and fight entrusting their lives and beliefs to the sword. The peace of the Tokugawa Shogunate begins to crumble with the arrival of Western influence. Amidst this upheaval, the youth of the nation seek a new era, but something else will bring turmoil and chaos. It is called Hasha no Kubi; the Head of the Conqueror. It is said that he who can obtain the Head shall rule over the whole country. However, another shadow being called “Eternal Assassin” is destined to oppose Hasha no Kubi. These two beings have been in eternal conflict, affecting the course of history from the shadows, influencing those who craved power. Some want it for their own, some want it for revenge, and some want it to fulfill their own ideals…
The wills of men intersect over the Hasha no Kubi. They combine and move together like complicated gear wheels of an engine pushing events towards the future.

Another way to look at this is Gundams replaced by Samurai

Still, I share the sentiment that they should focus more on the story and action while easing up on the eecchi stuff for shows these days. Prime example would be Asura Cryin'.

Oh wow, you're right!
this sure does bring back memories.  There aren't many shows like these anymore.  We're now flooded with so much ecchi I'm sick of it.  It's sad to hear that Ftv members are off doing other and most likely more important things.  It still confuses me as to why the producers chose this title for the anime.  funky title... Still, an awesome anime.

What I liked most about this series, was the determination Akizuki-san had in staying true to his mission, in order to bring down the evil that was encroaching upon the land. He knew he was going to risk it all, even his life in saving Kakunojou-chan, and the rest of the folks that were involved. A good series indeed, and you're right, truth2belief-san, they don't make them like they used to. Come to think of it, that's why I am a big fan of classic anime...some great stuff is to be had, this one among them.
Here's the link for those who might be interested in watching a very solid and entertaining anime series...

Give it a try...you won't be disappointed.

This thread brought back so many memories of such a wonderful and good series. Made me smile as I scrolled through to see old friends, now long gone from FTV, especially, Orofena-chan and KaBoti-san. Just re-watched this great series a few months back...glad I did. It was nail biting time all over again, as we approached the end...Wowie!

T_T Episode 18 is perplexing. They can't seriously have killed off the only character that keeps the viewer interested. Okay, I guess I also watch it or that blond guy whatsisname. With the eyepatch. It they killed him, I'd be horribly upset. But what do you think. Aki dead or alive? I'm guessing alive because I don't see the freakish girl with the horrible hair ever being able to kill Enmoto.

...I apperciate the attempt at realistic speech, but "Godd seivu the quiin" is a phrase that the Japanese really need to not say. It just doesn't work.

Can't wait for the next episode......

i cant wait to see the ending of this.   im just uneasy though. it might be some crappy sad ending again. like some samurai story. hope not.

It may just be me. But I'd rather see a sad ending. I'm really getting fed up with "Happy Endings". Even the ending of Sakou no Strain semi-pissed me off cause it ended semi-happy.....They need to put life into anime. Not all life-and-death tragedies end happily....

FYI: EP18 is out.

It's not that Shinsen Subs is slow, it's that they have a huge list of projects they're doing and if you check their site, they release every day.
