Jan 20 2012 11:55 AM Yuru Yuri, a simple comedy show that centers around four school girl's daily life. Sounds like Lucky Star right? or does it?
The story is comedy, nothing more and nothing less. What's different? It actually delivers on the yuri aspect in the final episode
I actually found a lot of the comedy in this show quite hilarious, mostly due to Kyoko of course. Kyoko really drives this show and it was interesting to see how much her character changed from when she was a child (shown in episode 11). The nice thing is that even though a lot of the jokes are recycled, there are often new twists to them that make them seem fresh.
Animation wise is slightly below average from Doga Kobo. I have seen better from when they worked on 11eyes or Koihime Musou. The art was similar to that of Lucky Star, which is sadly not saying much since we're comparing something made in 2007/2008 to something made in 2011.
Music was not particularly worth rehearing multiple times but certainly catchy. Seiyuu was good though, and again Kyoko = priceless.
Enjoyment? I honestly thought this would be yet another boring comedy show but this ended up being far more entertaining that I could have imagined. Certainly not the best I've seen but definitely worthwhile watching and definitely looking forward to the second season now.
Overall, the show is good. Not great and not terrible, but just good. A drawback for this show was its excessively long eye catch sequence and that's really the only major complaint that I have. Again, looking forward to season 2 this summer.
