Tamayura Hitotose, the sequel to the 2010 OVAs and an original work by the same director as the ARIA franchise. The show is literally a slice of life show. No magic, no supernatural, just 4 girls and how they go about their daily lives. Oh and like A Channel, there was an "obligatory" insert each episode.

Animation wise is probably the worst I've seen in some time. Even for a show airing in 480/576p, this is beyond poor. We're literally talking early 2000s animation and definitely worse quality than the DVD OVAs. Art is okay but definitely far from good.

Music was good and fit the mood nicely. Seiyuus were great too as they fit the personalities of the 4 girls.

Enjoyment? It's a nice soothing series but lacked the same impact ARIA had. Nevertheless, still a solid slice of life work.

Overall, the show is a good way to kill time, much like summer season's Ikoku Meiro no Croisee, but that's really about it. ARIA does a better job of Tamayura attempts and not to mention better quality. Animation really hurts this show and one can only they fix this in the BD/DVD

Preliminary Score: 7/10
Final Score: 7/10

I was happy to see it was a sequel as well! I also notices animation is a little on the cheap side, but it's not like there are going to be any big battle sequences where you will miss fluid animation or anything.

Well then, episode 2 confirms that this is not a reboot of the 2010 OVAs but rather a sequel. Now the show has caught my interest. The animation is still incredibly sub par though, probably worse than the OVA DVDs.

The OVAs back then were wuite enjoyable but I wonder if this theme is enough for a whole series. At least we got more background, even though Chihiro is a really annoying character. Hopefully we dont see her again and if she has changed.

An ok first ep.

My initial impressions:
from the director of the ARIA franchise, this work was meant to be a strong slice-of-life, coming of age show. We received a 4 episode OVA about 1-2 years ago telling a nice concise story and it was interesting to see what this was going to be.

Having seen the first episode now, all I can say is that the TV series looks like it's going to be a rehash of the OVAs with some extended character development. In essence, we have another Munto/Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai coming our way except probably done right.

While I'm not expecting ARIA level quality at this point, especially after the horrid animation budget for this show, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a more "surprising" story than a simple rehash.

Solid back story of Chihiro thus far, which is nice given the lack of development about her in the OVA, so hopefully more episodes like this in the future. Also, loving the soundtrack for this show as much as I loved the OVA soundtrack. Indeed, very good Maaya Sakamoto and Megumi Nakajima OP/ED sequences.

Preliminary Expectation: Medium
Preliminary Score: 7/10

I know I am in the minority, when I say the current season is the biggest flop since I started watching anime...... but I will go ahead and say it again.

And desperate times call for desperate actions. Normally I read the plot summaries and look at genre listing, the art work and then I carefully choose what I will watch. This season I am desperate enough to try anything, so that I have more then one anime to watch.

So I decided to give this one a try, even though the synopsis made me yawn.

My thoughts:

The girls are annoying like hell. Cant they speak normal? I mean, whats up with those high pitched over the top voices??? And their behaviour? Running around and acting like kindergarden kids with a attention deficit problem.

Anyways, the moment I decided to give up this series was, when that classmate of the main herion kept crying because of her dead dad. WTF? Why did she cry so much, it wasnt her dad who died.
No way I am watching all of this fake emmotional drama.

So one anime less on my list.

Plot: For her first year of high school, Fu Sawatari moves to Takehara, a scenic old town near Hiroshima, on the Inland Sea. Her father, who has passed away, grew up in Takehara. She loves taking photographs with her father's old film camera, a Rollei 35S. The story follows her and the friends who gather around her as she comes to love her new home. (~from ANN~)

My Thoughts:
Created and directed by the director of the Aria series, this show has much the same feel to it. I watched the OVA before and it was cute as hell. So far this show covers the same ground but with more detail to the story. It is a really pleasant and soothing show to watch. And it also has beautiful Maaya Sakamoto OP and Megumi Nakajima ED songs. This is my favorite show of the new season so far and I can't imagine that anything else will supplant it from that position.
