Queen's Blade Rebellion is the 5th series (OVAs included) in the Queen's Blade franchise and the 3rd TV series in the franchise. It takes place four years after the first Queen's Blade series and continues directly from the events of the Queen's Blade (Rebellion) OVA released in late 2011, early 2012. Rather than being an original like work like the original series, Queen's Blade Rebellion is based off a turn based fighting game featuring various story lines. The Rebellion TV series is primarily focused from Annelotte's perspective, who is a princess and knight rebelling against the new queen's tyranny and oppression. Animation studio Arms returns to provide animation to the series with composer of Kill Me Baby and Hidan no Aria supervising the script and Himawari's director. Queen's Blade Rebellion has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks with the first two TV series licensed by Media Blasters.

Queen's Blade Rebellion...is in fact the opposite of Queen's Blade and obviously as the title implies, it involves a rebellion. The story is pretty boring overall with Annelotte constantly getting herself into trouble despite "wanting" to rebel against the Queen. Of course, even her own determination is wishy-washy the entire series effectively making any purpose in the series moot. The plot lacks a serious direction as it ends up being a group of female warriors...or more like commoners getting together to suddenly take on the mighty Queen. The story is also generally not very friendly to new viewers of the series. It brings back a fairly large amount of the original cast and throws it at viewers with little to no introduction. Furthermore, the series attempts to pass off as a "new" series that doesn't require previous knowledge of the series despite not explicitly saying so. It's pretty obvious by the roundabout method it takes. Even for returning viewers, the plot has a lot of holes since the 2010 OVA where characters like Tomoe, who should have been with Aldra after going blind is suddenly no longer around. There's a lot of unexplained material in the four year gap and the fact that the show tries to pass itself off as requiring no prior knowledge yet at the same time doing the opposite really doesn't give much help in an already aimless series. I should also note that a bulk of the new cast shows up for an episode or two and then disappears...yeah not exactly good either.

Art wise is pretty poor as is animation compared to the original series. Action is poorly executed and details are minimal. The show is clearly on a low budget and it doesn't help when they try to make the fanservice the most high quality aspect of this show. Granted that many may just be watching it for the fanservice, the original likely provided better detail anyways. It may also require waiting for the uncensored blu-rays before any other comments can be made about that aspect but from what's provided thus far, it's a poorly drawn title.

Music is also weak. OP/ED are sub par and background music is not as "epic" as the previous titles. Sounds are barely memorable and seiyuus are average at best. Again, Queen's Blade titles have a strong seiyuu lineup but the talent is often wasted.

Enjoyment? Little to none. It had a few interesting fights and bringing back some old characters was a tad nostalgic but nothing emotional or of the sort compared to many other titles that do the same.

Overall, Queen's Blade continues to be a massive failure and one can only question how it continues to be made. Apparently it's a popular title in the US, but god knows what the average standards of anime audience members are now. I have nothing against fanservice/ecchi titles but I do have problems with shows that can't get their act straight.

Just watched the first ep of this. Well what to say, its Queens Blade, meaning lots of beautys fighting and ripping their clothes off so nothing new there.

What I totally dislike about this show is what became of Claudette. She was by far the best character and the one most suited to become the Queen I just cant believe shes turned into a cruel dictator. I hope she just possessed like Aldora and Rana will give her a good punch to the face to set her straight (if Rana appears this time).

I dont know what to think about the new characters. Sure Annelotte is a hottie with a good personality and the gladiator is a hottie too but except for those two everyone else is useless. Sure Siggy looks good too but I dont really like her character and the pirate would be a beauty too if not for her strange nipplethings (I wonder why japanese are into stupid things like that).
I know Im already gonna miss Alleyene, Risty, Tomoe, Echidna and the old Claudette.

Title: Queen's Blade: Rebellion

Synopsis: After the 30th Queen's Blade, Claudette becomes the queen. At first, she governs the country well by abolishing the heavy taxes and the aristocracy. However, her reign turns into terrorism by power and the Queen's Blade is repealed. The Princess Knight of Rebellion, Annelotte organizes a rebel army and declares war against Claudette.

(MAL, ANN)

My Thoughts: Lots of boobs and lots of fighting but not specifically in that order Not for sure how many people are interested in watching this one because of the seedy reputation it has for mainly being a fanservice anime (is that really such a crime?). Though I've seen the other seasons and watched the ova's so I'm going to give this one a shot. The majority of the characters are new but they do have some re-occurring ones from the first two seasons. Get ready for ecchi-max!
