My best bet is that was Tomoya's dad telling him his mom died when he was small.
Probaly going to show Tomoya's past then so it could lead to Tomoya making up with his dad. I don't see anything about Tomoya's son in any of the Clannad games so I don't think they would start a new.

Finished watching this a while back, and i liked it a lot 2. Reminded me of ef and Kanon at the same time(but different story). The art was just wow and the characters, and the OVA was just the right pace. I expected that they would show Fuko out of her coma and goin to school at the end of 24. Not disappointed though cause it was a good ending, am looking foward to After Story. JAANE~

My fav character has got to be Fuko... "It's a starfish"

My guess on the OVA is that Tomoya never met Nagisa at all cause he met Tomoyo first and other stuff. That's just my thought...

WAHHH! afterstory premiers on 2nd of october!

I saw the quick 18second clip..correct me if im wrong, the part where they show the train with tomoya and another kid with blue hair...COULD that be their son? This is quite new to me.. This is the 1st time ive seen/heard bout anything which has to do with their kids, all i know is that theres ushio and that she dies aswell...But a son!?!? COULD IT BE!?

Link that for the preview, you'll need some kind of a media that connects to the net to play it. Cause it runs thru connection, not downloading it, or watching it on their website.. It will just give you a tracker for your media player to connect too. (Buffering and stuff..you'll know if you use winamp).

OMG GUYS I CANT BELIEVE THIS!

i saw a commercial on tv! it has the exact sam music as the end of ep23 where they showed a preview of afterstory..they played it with piano and voilin background. It's sooo cooool! CLANNAD IS ON TV XD (only abit of the music) the commercial has nothing to do with clannad, but i think they brought the copyright of that piece or something, so they can use it...IMA WATCH TV ALL DAY AND WAIT FOR THAT COMMERCIAL AGAIN!!!

I agree; the OVA episode has become one of my favorite episodes. I'm not a fan of any girl in particular but Tomoya and Tomoyo just seemed so right together in their episode compared to Nagisa's episode with Tomoya at the end. They both seemed much more into each other but I guess it is because in this episode, Tomoya and Tomoyo were already more established.

As to why the other girls weren't in this episode, I think it's because without getting involved with Nagisa (if that's what this episode is really saying), he didn't really get that close with all the other characters. He met Kotomi through a recruiting process (minus childhood meeting), etc.

I was actually glad to see Sunohara get more of a role in this episode and actually not act as comic relief. He really seemed to have a level head and be of significance. Granted he was great as comic relief, it was nice to see a change.

And about what Kit said before, I think it's viable that the two didn't have any intense emotion during the break up. Tomoya obviously didn't really want to break up with her so he was trying to show that he didn't care about it. Tomoyo had some emotion when she told him no and said that she liked him but there is so much you can do when your boyfriend is being as dull as he was.

I must say I loved the OVA episode, a lot more than I expected. The way they were able to fit that whole story into a single episode was challenging, but it grabbed me how well they were able to convey the emotion. I thought of the story in terms of a short story since it was completely self-contained, though I realized that I loved it a lot more since I knew the background of the characters and setting already, which doesn't happen in a short story. Either way, I couldn't stop thinking about it after I had watched it, even during and after watching other anime right after. And episode 24 is now considered, by me, to be one of the highlight episodes of Clannad, the others being 9 (last Fuko arc episode), 14 (last Kotomi arc episode), 16 (basketball game episode), 22 (last Nagisa arc episode), and 23.

Too bad they couldn't have made it into a short OVA mini-series which could tell Tomoyo's whole story instead of the highlights.

Can't wait for After Story now.

that's because in this world Nagisa is dead since Tomoyo didn't choose her and Tomoya doesn't care since he's got Tomoyo  ..... just kidding
