So I never watched it when it got subbed or anything but just thought that I had to see it.

So ordered it on amazon last week and received it only 2 days ago. Me and my little sister just watched this Christmas morning and it was a very well done movie and I think I had some seriously high expectations from it and I think the movie missed some of those notes for me.

I really did enjoy the movie but at the same time I did want something else. I can't put my finger on it but thats the case for me.

The ending was a bit comforting but it was a bittersweet ending nonetheless but it seems like Makoto will probably never meet Chiaki because it seems like he's too far into the future which is a sad thought. However, their parting was done in a way to give HOPE to viewers.

I have it on DVD, so I might re-watch the movie in the future but for now I'll be putting it away on my shelf.

I'm going to give this movie a 8.5/10..........I was going to give this a 9 but I guess something made it loose 1/2 a mark I guess.

Yeah! I've watched this about 3 times now...

@Dragon-Knight
I know what you mean. Maybe they're thinking that most past anime ended with happy ever after, like Howl's Moving Castle, but they're probably trying to go against the norm. But the norm right now is to put twists on things. Probably we'll see a twist where the twist is that there is no twist! Just that they'd leave a lot of clues or unimportant scenes where the viewer would deduce and expect a different ending. Which won't happen. haha!

Maybe we'd all like to see a instant noodle happy ending but I don't really think it goes with the mood of the rest of the movie.

I just watch the movie it was really good. I hope chiaki comes from like 5 years in the future when they just invented the time leap.

There's a manga being done of it, so I suppose it's not impossible that they might produce a TV series based off the manga.

I think the meeting up again is just wishful thinking (unless he comes back for her with another time travel walnut she's going to be an old, old, woman by the time she reaches his future!).

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think he ever mentioned what time he came from. Could be he is not that far in the future from her.

OMG!! This was so good. I wonder if they are going to leave it at the movie or do some more with it. I would love to see when they actually meet up again

Little bit of trivia I don't think anyone has mentioned, I was curious as to whether we get a look at the interloper in the lab at all, and on doing a bit of freeze-framing I noticed that not only is the silhouette of the person recognisable as he moves along behind the lab bench at 9:26, but also at 9:27 he is standing there behind the falling books looking down at her! I found it impossible to see this when playing the movie normally because the books are in the way and the whole shot lasts less than a second, but it's clear if you do it frame by frame.

I agree. I would definitely rewatch this film several times. Perhaps this summer I'll watch it again. I just wish that the soundtrack would have been longer because it's so good!
