Early in summer, the 13th year of Tempo, due to the Tempo Reforms proclaimed by Mizuno Tadakuni, people in Edo are prohibited from living extravagantly and luxuriously. Tamaya Seikichi, a craftsman of fireworks, cannot abandon his dream to create new and larger fireworks than anyone has ever seen. Every day, he secretly launches fireworks and evades the authorities.

One night, two beasts are cornered by government officers. The blue one is killed, but the white one escapes into the darkness. Part of the reason they miss the white one is Seikichi's fireworks. The next morning, Sora, a mysterious and beautiful girl, appears and asks Seikichi to make a firework that can reach the moon. Although he is embarrassed by her request, he begins to make fireworks in order to encourage people depressed by the reforms. In the row house he lives in, various kinds of people, such as a carpenter, an entertainer, a magician, a mechanic, etc. reside there. With the help of those people and Shunpei, Seikichi’s little brother, who is also a good mathematician, their “Moon Rocket Plan” begins to take shape. Will he be able to shoot a rocket to the moon?

Hmm, Finally watched it all.
I really feel sorry for Akai, I mean, yeah he wasn't portrayed as a great guy but he was a great character. Too bad he had to die. Well, he didn't have to, but he did. What was with the pink thing and Yu anyway... Wish they could have had a happy ending.

But anyway, wow, this thing really ended in september. Sure took a long time for it to actually well, finish getting subbed. heck, I think I started watching it in september... Haha.

Well the whole series has finally gotten subbed.

I liked the ending and its a great show. My only major complaint is how the last 6 episodes dragged. I mean it should have ended sooner without this filler stuff thrown in to keep the show going. However, I'm sure there is somebody else out there who would argue that the fillerish sidetracked episodes are part of what make Edo so much fun to watch.

Oh well, only a few eps of Wings of Honneamis---- I mean.. Oh Edo Rocket .. left.

Uh I don't really see how you can compare Gainax's masterpiece to Oh Edo Rocket. While they are both about constructing spacecraft the story and execution for each couldn't be more different. Also while Edo is really really good I feel that it can't touch Wings.

The show should've ended with 22 eps after all, eh..
(¬.¬) Filler, much.
....and it was so addictive up till the end of the blue beast arc too.. sigh.

Have to see the journey to its end.. :o)

What a pleasant surprise to find 3 more episodes of this show available for download when I woke up today =D . But episode 18 left us with such a cliffhanger it's going to kill me having to wait another 2-3 weeks for more releases from Shinsen. I really hope they use the slight down time between seasons to hopefully finish this series up since I know all of the raws have been up for a while now.

It IS sad this is falling under the radar. .

Falling? Its done fell. Hell it was barely on anybodys radar to start with. However slowly but surely I think the rest will get subbed and maybe then some more people will get into it.

It IS sad this is falling under the radar.

Edo Rocket is a quirky little show, but I don't remember watching anything quite like this before. Maybe if Rocket Girls had been made by the director of Kung Fu Hustle and the stoned guy from the Samurai Champloo meetings... the result would be Edo Rocket? That's about as close as I can come.

I give them big points for having such a original concept. And it has nice continuity. You can see that we're actually going to get to the end of this series and experience the joy of conclusion.

Just finished 11 and 12,

I don't have much to say about 11 except that while it felt kinda slow it still was quite an excellent episode. However episode 12 amazed me in this show's ability to use what in every other anime would be considered a filler and turn it into a much needed character development episode for the somewhat neglected side cast. Again, I don't know why more of you FTV'ers aren't following this show, it makes me sad to see this falling under the radar.

ha ha sanmoto, you make such a big quote and you're post is like three words!

------------

hmm anyways, im halfway through ep10, haven't finished watching it yet though but i thought i might as well comment.....yes i agree this anime is refreshing in the sense that the plotline is pretty original and the comedy isn't just crude comedy, but stuff that is in all actuality funny

the only complaint i have...which has nothing whatsoever to do with the creators themselves, is just that yes the subs are coming out quite fast...i mean the first time 3eps came out at once and then this time 2eps at once.....it's good that so many episodes are coming out, but just that when they all come out at once, the excitement and the anticipation of waiting is gone....cuz even if we say, "omgsh! a cliff hanger!" we all know we enjoy the anticipation of waiting for the next episode because it just makes it that much more delightful to watch since we've been waiting for a while..obviously waiting weeks on end is a completely different story....perhaps its just me who thinks that!
