May 7 2008 01:36 AM Wow! So I
finally finished up the last 4 eps
(yeah, I got distracted by all the new spring series) and while I was sad to see it end, it was a pretty satisfying finish. It was well worth sitting through the stand-alone, simpler mysteries early-on just to see Yako's personal mystery develop into that last "South American" story arc; it was quite compelling and tied in well with the clues dropped throughout the earlier episodes. Although I would've liked to have learned more about
Seiren & Kai-- so was she a witch? And what exactly is Kai, then? Besides Yako's (implied) half-brother, which was a very interesting twist!
Even though it's left open for a second series, it doesn't necessarily cry out for one like some series do. We're left
in a comfortable place-- Neuro reappears (a boy gets hungry after closing the portal to hell, after all), greets Yako with a reassuring head-grab (which is as close to a public display of affection as Neuro gets), and it's business-as-usual ("usual" being a relative term) .
