After three years' coma, Suzumiya Haruka comes to, but time has deprived her of important things. However, still there is something remains in her. Her lover, Narumi Takayuki, devotes himself to her. They visit various place they rememeber as if they were trying to retrieve lost three years. However, there is a place they keep away from. A phone booth in front of the Hiiragi-cho Station - they cannot approach to the place Haruka had the accident three years ago.

OK, I was so wanting a car to come and take both of 'em out while they were standing there crying. After seeing this it's only helped to re-confirmed that Mitsuki is the best choice.

Whereas I'm a huge fan of Akane, so I was happy to see her get all the screentime that she got =)

Although it still sucks that she still had to hide her true feelings for Bakayuki by only saying that she loves him like a "brother"... sure.

It was so much better than the Mitsuki end, so it gets an 8/10 from me.

anyways, after 6 months of waiting for a ridiculous cliffhanger in June 2008, this was not really what I had in mind.  However, it isn't as bad as Kaizu said it was either.  The biggest downside to this episode was that there was too much focus on Akane rather than on Haruka's and Takayuki's relationship.  That really only got the last 5-10 minutes of the show, which I found outstanding, especially by bringing back everything where it first started.  A lot of stuff from the original 2003-04 series also made episode 4 feel rather nostalgic.
Nevertheless, waiting 6 months for this final episode did not quite deliver what I had hoped for, especially with Haruka being my favorite of the two choices (between Haruka and Mitsuki).  The original series stands far superior to this one in essentially every aspect except animation, which of course, changed over the years.  Had they made this into a full 12-13 episode series, it probably would have allowed a slightly more interesting development.  The cliffhangers in episodes 1 and 3 really made the OVA, but it simply did not produce with the following episodes of something as shocking or jaw-dropping as those two scenarios.
Regardless, the OVA wasn't bad and was nice for us Haruka fans, and the last 5 minutes were nice to see everything starting back where it did 3 years ago in the series before Haruka fell into the coma.  On a side note, did the tree play any significance this time around?  I don't remember if it did in episode 1 since it's been so long.

Anyways I give this series a 7/10.  It had potential to be as good as the first series as the best all time drama/romance/slice-of-life series, but it really slipped up too many times for it to cross my 8/10 threshold, which many series seem to lose out for these little mistakes

Did anyone watch the 4th epi? I watch it through chinese sub , and I have to say that you wil be disappointed if you are anticipating imapct and drama like the 1st season. In episode 4 , nothing much happen , most of the time they just talk about having dream and sacrificing something in exchange for your dream. The fainting in episode 3 is also a fraud , nothing big happen after that. For those that want a surprise ending , you won't get it , haruka won. In short , after waiting for 6mth , I am disappointed with the show . But just because it is kgne and more haruka , I will be lenient and gave it a 8/10 or else , it is rather a mediocore show considering that the 1st season is so epic to me. I think even akane maniax is better than this , at least it got comedy.

I'd love to see an Akane ending, but seeing how this is all about Haruka, I guess I'l have to settle for that.

Anything is better than the Mitsuki ending of the TV series though.

So after about 6 months since the huge cliffhanger in episode 3, episode 4 will finally be available on DVD this Friday.....anyone else still interested or have you all given up hope on this series after waiting so long XD

Based on the DVD box art, it doesn't look like we'll be getting a sad ending, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet after what happened in the original series...second anime series in my whole life to actually make me shed a tear (with Kanon 2002 being the first)

I'm pretty sure(like 99.9%) that y'all are correct about the 4th ova coming out then. also i don't think they will make another season(although i wish they would). This is an OVA series based on alt. ending for the original 14 episode series. and the original was based on a pc video game. So unless they start making up stories(which would be bad unless they did it perfectly)they probley wont make another season.But man...i feel bad for poor dude, he needs to just get with the sister so he can finally have someone that cares about him and that he can care for without getting hurt...and it would help him start fresh.Besides akane is the hot one xP
