Tales of the Abyss takes place on Auldrant, a planet composed of elementary particles called Fonons (フォニム Fonimu?, Fonim in the Japanese version). For much of Auldrant's history, only six fonons were known to exist, representing the elements of Shadow, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire and Light; but eventually a seventh fonon, controlling Sound, is discovered. Its discovery brings great chaos: using this newest Seventh Fonon allows one to read the future. One such Seventh Fonist, Yulia Jue, puts in place a future for the world for thousands of years to come, with the promise of unlimited prosperity at its end. This prophecy of the future's set path becomes known as the "Score" and is documented on "Fonstones" scattered throughout the world. The nations of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and Malkuth have fought over the fragments of these tablets for generations, each uncovering them and hoping to discover the future before the other. Meanwhile, a holy order emerges dedicated to the reading of the Score and the keeping of the peace. This "Order of Lorelei" is headed by a Fon Master and maintains both religious/political and military branches. Finally, the Score and its promise of prosperity lead to a dangerous complacency within the general population of Auldrant; the slaughter of an entire people living on the island of Hod and the destruction of that landmass are countenanced because it was predicted in the Score.

I wish we would have been able to see Tear and Luke at least hug
or say that they loved each other T^T instead of Tear's whisper to herself.

They left the viewer to picture that themselves, everyone who watched the series knows that if the producers were to show a bit more into the future, Luke and Tear would have started a relationship as even though Luke's words were unspoken, you just knew he had feelings for Tear.

Although overall I enjoyed Abyss more than Symphonia, I still reckon Kratos is cooler than any other "Tales of" characters

Ah <3
I can watch the last episode as many times as possible.
and still want to cry when Tear starts crying T^T.
This was much better than I expected.
I was biased against this game/series
because I felt Symphonia was best....but....no longer...

Woot. I just finished watching it after having it stalled for so much time. xDD
It was a great adaptation ;D When I started watching it... I loved it ^O^/ When it was halfway, I started playing the game and thought it was adapted well so far. After I got past the point I was up to in the anime... The game felt much enjoyable and the anime series a bit boring. D: I guess it's because I knew what was going to happen. =3=

The final battle was great. o: And too bad I didn't see Mieu hide in the Item Bag, as pointed out in the game during one of the skits. xDD
It was awesome that Jade used Indignation D:!!! That's my favorite Arte/Skill in the whole Tales of ... series.

Hehee. Luke is a good guy but he's too extreme >>; First too annoying and immature.. too extreme about the deaths he caused... too emotional... too confident... I think it was pointed out during one of the skits in the game haha.

Jade was probably the character I liked the most. His voice acting in the anime is so amusing XD And in the game the skits are so comical.

Regarding the other Tales of ovas... The Tales of Phantasia one was the most awkward one. o___o Some events were so different. But I enjoyed it anyway, it provided me with more info about the tales of phantasia and symphonia's world. ;D I think the Tales of Eternia ovas were ecchi.. lol But I haven't tried them since I couldn't finish the game. (Silly save data ;o;)

In response to the question of who came back , it wouldn't be too hard to imagine that it is Lorelei/Luke/Asch as earlier in the series it reveals that they're all isofons of each other. In essence the same soul. At one point Lorelei even speaks in Luke's head, "Fragment of my soul, hear me..." or something along those lines.

So I'm guessing that was the end, gotta say pretty good end still left one question unanswered at least for me here it is if anyone can answer it much appreciated A little bit before the blast of light into the sky it shows a second or two long clip with Asch's hand twitching. So my question is when Luke returned was that Asch but with Luke in his body because it definitely looked like Luke faded away at the last moment. Did they become one person with the memories of both? Thank you in advance whoever attempts to answer the question; going to go look for answers in the manga if there is any...

Ahh that was a good ending indeed Feels like I just finished the game in very hard mode.

The one who returns is still Luke, you can tell by the way he spoke about his promise to Tear and of course his hairdo.

Well at least it ended properly for a Tales of... series mind you. I'm only saying this since this is actualy the first series that wasn't an OVA to begin with. The other two Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia were just OVAs that didn't seem to have a proper end to it.

and so it ends.
It really seemed like a game type of ending. I kinda wish they had branched off and done their own... not that im complaining it was good... I guess I was just hoping for a lil more... romance then that.
