When an art club member, Mikuriya Jin, completed a wooden statue of a fairy for a local exhibition, the statue turned into a girl. He asked her if she was a fairy, but her answer was beyond his imagination. She said that she was Ubusunagami, the goddess of the land. Confused by her response, he explained that he had carved the statue from the wood of a sacred tree.

Suddenly, the goddess was assaulted by “Kegare," unclean existences born from the land. She was helpless against the Kegare, which cannot be touched by people, but Jin picked it up and threw it away as if it were nothing. Seeing this, she got angry and kicked him in his stomach.

In order to exact her revenge against the Kegare, she made a special weapon, which resembles a magical wand often used in magical girl anime. While Jin was surprised by her actions, she got her revenge. Afterwards, she introduced herself as Nagi: the same name as that of the sacred tree.

I'm currently downloading the 14th episode on IRC. A 2nd season is unlikely for the time being......but its very possible because of the sheer amount of Nagi fans in Japanese. The manga is currently on hiatus.....it was exactly at Volume 6 Chapter 36 when u see Nagi's EX.....I can't remember much.....its almost been a year since I read the chapter....I was able to check my manga list on MAL to confirm.

The mangaka said she would take a year-long break to fully recover back in December 2008......so I believe the Kannagi manga will come out of Hiatus some time next month or just start when the new year starts......2010. I am actually happy to think of it like this as I'm a pretty big Kannagi fan.

As for a 2nd season......it could come as early as Fall 2010 or in 2011 because the 1st season of the anime series only used material up to Volume 3 Chapter 18 according to MangaUpdates.....I can't exactly confirm because I don't know where my dl'ed Kannagi scans are. However, I would rather have the 2nd season use all the current material as a half-way point so as to continue the 2nd half of what will Nagi do her EX or Jin....who will she choose ?? So I would prefer the 2nd season to use at least 4 to 5 volume worth of material if it ever happens.

Ahhhhhhhh.....I now remember how good the manga was for me......I'm glad I blanked anime and manga out of me for the past 10 months....now I don't need to wait as long for Chpater 37, which I hope comes real soon......I'm guessing the manga will restart where it began its serialisation at 9th December 2005.....that would be awesome, because I only need to wait a month and one day.....not that long.

The thing is the mangaka might choose to finish this series off quickly when she decides to come back out of hiatus, which is a sad thought.........I want it to end properly but it has to be longer than 8 or 9 volumes at least hopefully.

I just finished downloading the Special/OVA/EPISODE 14 of Kannagi just now....might watch it later on today.

EDIT:

I just got round to watching the unaired episode....DVD only aka episode 14. In simple terms, its anime-only material but the animation studio really do know how to create their own material as it reinforced Jin's love for Nagi. Its great and its why I'm giving it 9/10.

For confirmation just watch the cooking episode where all the girls challenge each other to make Jun the best meal
Zange has to go out into the corridor and talk to the girl she's posessing
My fave episode of season 1 has to be when Nagii goes shopping and they talk about breast-sizes:p Nagii's face and comments as she tries to maintain her pride and dignity or just so perfect "I'M STILL GROWING!"

All the girls = good, but Nagi is definitely best! I wonder, wild stab in the dark, if the other version of Nagi is actually the original god that was then split with the trees, and afterwards into Nagi and Zange? Not that I really want to know until I see it, but she seems to be the only one with both power and dignity!

Accipiter/Gustav - it makes a bit more sense now, I thought they were just taking the piss! Good special effects for the budget, though

I hope they have more art club scenes (assuming Season 2), they have a great dynamic and I'm really curious about the exact nature of the relationship between Takako and her quiet but confident girlfriend (whosnameIforget, and what was with the eyes-joke in the karaoke episode?). Sigh - why are all the best clubs imaginary?!?!

I'm also getting quite fond of Zange, which makes me feel a bit dirty, but what the hell! Sometimes she looks suprisingly like Nagi, just for a moment, and I really want to see Hakua(?) and find out exactly how one-sided the possession deal is. I think it's kind of sweet that Zange spends her evenings deliberately getting into trouble so she has an excuse to beat up potential rapists! Go Zange! (far away, but keep sending me pics!)

It makes me a bit sad now that its ended and not knowing But I think I'll watch it through one more time and then try and forget until the end of the year - with fingers firmly crossed! Thanks to FTV et al - my fave so far this year.

I believe what Nagi wanted when she was using those sound effects is a chance to fight Zange Seeing as Zange was automatically cast as a major character Nagi wanted an excuse to confront Zange and she wanted to be allowed to show super-powers hence all the sound effect noises.ie.Nagi wanted in the film to attack Zange with super powers
I agree with Hyuuga that the club prsident is awesome in her own way and the 2 key scenes to prove this are when she "showed her true colours" due to the remark about all all their hot bodies and when she pretended to be all bashful to get Akiba to comply with her demands She also looks pretty good in a swimsuit too

Once again she is hilarious!!!!!!

She has to be one of the more interesting club presidents I have ever seen in an anime

You are mistaken. The Anime never caught up to the Manga so this is just straight-up DVD extra filler. Pretty entertaining, though and a nice surprise for me too because I didn't pay attention when this thread revived back in February so I didn't know it was coming.

I believe everything we see once we see them filming is actually in fact them watching the movie they made. If you look at it that way, the film that was written included all the elements that the crew asked for. Action, Sci-Fi, school life, scenes of the filmmaking process and whatever it was that Naggi was asking for when she blurted out those incomprehensible sound effects. It also explains how Daisetsu and Megru are still alive and watching the film after being killed in the Typhoon. Quite the script writer that Meguru, eh?

BTW, when am I going to find stacks of money lying in the street?

I couldnt stop laughing during the 2nd half with all the over the top drama when they left to return the DVD. Sososo ironic that it would have made a great film, it had the action, the drama, the danger, the romance, the tragedy it even had the cliffhanger
Yeah some of the jokes were based on events from season 1 Ixol, you should check them out.
I had so much sympathy for Jin when the girls were arguing in front of him in their swimsuits "There's a trap in front of mye eyes!" but OMG Zange is so kawaii and provocative in a swimsuit *drool*And the bit where she asks to be in the club, I think if she'd asked ME that way I'd have done anything she wanted
Poor Nagi and her lack of chest *wipes away tear*
I agree that Kanagi should never be dubbed, the voices suit the characters perfectly and it'd be like painting a mustache on a the Mona Lisa.
I demand that there be a 2nd season I miss Nagi!!!
