Chäos;HEAd's story is set in the year of 2008 in Shibuya and is centered around Takumi Nishijō, a high school student at the private Suimei Academy. Some strange events have recently occurred in the Shibuya area. The two main events being referenced by the media and the public at large are called the "New Generation" (ニュージェネレーション?) events. The first event called "Group Dive" (集団ダイブ?) occurred on September 7 when five high school students jumped to their deaths off of a high tower. The second event called "Pregnant Man" (妊娠男 Ninshin Otoko?) occurred on September 19 where a male university student was found dead with a thirty-two week old fetus incised within his abdomen.

The story begins on September 28 when Takumi talking to an online friend called Grim (グリム Gurimu?). Grim is trying to bring Takumi up to speed about the recent New Generation events since Takumi is not interested local or international news. A person named Shōgun (将軍?) joins the chat room midway through Grim and Takumi's conversation, but he does not respond despite being greeted by both Grim and Takumi. Grim sends Takumi a poorly drawn image of a person getting stabbed with several stakes. Grim claims that it is an image of the victim before leaving.
After Grim leaves the chat room, Shōgun finally starts to talk. He sends Takumi a barrage of several image links depicting a murder like Grim's image except that these images appeared to be real images. The next day, as Takumi was heading home after spending the afternoon at an Internet cafe, he comes across the same scene that he witnessed yesterday in Shōgun's pictures. He sees a male body nailed to the wall as well as a pink-haired girl dressed in Suimei Academy's uniform covered in blood. Takumi runs away screaming as soon as he comes to his senses over the situation at hand. The story progresses from here with Takumi trying to avoid getting involved with Shōgun and other New Generation events as he is slowly caught in a grander scheme's wheels of motion.

Today, I re-watched episode 09 and then watched the remaining episodes of this series (the ones I never got to watch in the first place from ep 10 to 12). It was interesting but I remember not liking this series much and the ending seemed rushed and to be honest I don't know what to make of this series. I migth have played the game....don't remember but I have it on one of my pcs.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh damn......this series was too wacked out and the development of this series was messed up.

I'm giving it a 7/10......the ending was lame.....this could have played out better.

I definitely liked the game better. Much more detailed, and less rushed. Not to mention the underwear patch...

But the anime series was decent. Didn't love it. Just liked it. The first half was immensely better, with all the suspense about who was doing the murders, what was a delusion and what wasn't, etc. The last few episodes just got confusing- they went overboard with overly scientific explanations for simple questions.

Then again, maybe the entire anime series was just a delusion... Maybe I'm just a butterfly dreaming I was a human?

To be fair, with those backpack-things and Noah II's power, the person fighting Sena (And I think Yua as well?) was able to real boot stuff. That's Noah II's power. So not just Gigalomaniacs can real boot stuff.

---Below contains my continued ranting--- Beware!

I'd like actual explanations for the murders. I mean, it just seemed like random crap. And I don't like random crap. Why did the doctor dude who Takumi was seeing had to die? Why did Yua's sister and all those people have to die? It's those type of questions that I had while watching the series. I couldn't have cared less about frickin Di-Swords and Noah II and all that hogwash. I expect to see a group of people save the world by using their special powers when I'm watching a frickin shounen fighter, not a seinen/visual novel anime.

It's like if Higurashi Kai just had some random person show up as the killer at the end instead of explaining the reason why the people kept dying. Now that I think about it, Higurashi Kai is the perfect example of how Chaos;Head could have worked so well. Instead of branching off in their idiotic pattern of "ZOMG! I has sword! I must fight obligatory evil corporation!", they could have created an elaborate investigative thriller into the New Gen murders. How awesome would that have been? To actually have had MOTIVE behind each of the murders? Well, maybe that's just my personal interests *shrugs*

Personally, I liked it. Every episode had plenty of "Whoa, didn't see that one coming!" moments, which was cool.

Plus, I loved the soundtrack, especially Phantasm's songs. I'm definitely looking out for more music whenever I can. And if the visual novel ever does get released for PC in the U.S., I might break my long-running ban on avoiding computer games.

To be fair, it wasn't perfect. For example...

-The whole mirror thing with Kozu-pii was just weird, and they probably could have explained that better.
-They made a big deal out of the GE-rate and biorhythms, but they never explained why they were so concentrated or why they needed to be.
-Yua disappears from the face of the planet for most of the episodes.
-They claim that only Giglomaniacs with Di-swords can real boot except for Takumi, but the detective fighting Sena seems to be able to do it artifically, although it doesn't seem like anyone else can.
-I'm not sure, but I get the feeling that the nurse New Gen killer was a delusion, although probably not fully independent from her creator. That would probably explain why she wouldn't hesitate to kill herself. In any case, they definitely should have given us a bit more info on her.
-Why can't Seira find happiness?
-Was there a Noah I?
-How did that equation wind up in their hands in the first place?
-Where's my Di-sword?!

Just finished watching this show and yeah like each one stated before it had one huge potentiel but wasn't fully used as the storyline at the anime was rushed...
Still ther's lot of thing bugging me especially the equation: fun*10+int*40=IR2..Could somone explain it please?

Get a cheap scientific calculator at Wal-mart and input it in.

You will come to understand the meaning of it all. You will have just about 2 seconds to take a glimpse at the answer before your calculator implodes.

Nah but really I think its just some mumbo jumbo that they added to make it sound likes theres an equation that will bring DOOM to the world. For more plot substance.

Chaos Head was quite a delight to watch, the firest half of the series or so then it just went downhill from there.

The series uses the concept that reality is defined by belief.ie. if belief in something is strong enough then reality changes to make the belief a reality.eg. if belief was strong enough that a dinosaur walked down the high street reality would change and a dinosaur would appear in the high street. It's a philosphical theory.
The series is about what would happen if somebody was able to make people believe what they wanted as well has having the power to make beliefs real so they could make people believe there was an eartthquake and between their power and the belief of the people they would be able to CREATE an earthquake and stuff like that. Then the show has heroes/heroines with similar power who want to save the world by stopping the abuse of power by the first group.

If I remeber correctly there is also plans for making another game for the Xbox360. Although I'm not sure if that can be confirmed, but I can mention this the Visual Novel is almost fully translated to English as well so that may be something worth checking out if it's just the grusome violence and nothing more though.

There actually has been a beta patch for a while and it goes decently far into the story already. And this game can actually not be gruesome at all and instead just plain ecchi (there even is an underwear patch for the game ). It all depends on what you choose in the story since you technically choose the delusions that Takumi sees.

That's a port, not a new game.
