Based on a popular web-released manga series by Hidekazu Himaruya, this has been described as a "cynical gag" story set in Europe in the years between WW1 and WW2 (1915-1939), using exaggerated caricatures of the different nationalities as portrayed by a gaggle of bishōnen boys. For example, the Italia Veneziano character is into pasta and women. The Deutsche (German) bishi loves potatoes and sausages, and Nippon is an otaku boy. Installments of the manga have jumped back and forth in setting from the ancient times to modern-day geopolitics. The manga's title comes the Japanese words for "useless" (hetare) and Italy (Italia).

Well, Civ IV never had voices to begin with. The leaders exhibit attitude proper to Hetalia characters, though.

LOL you're right, just played again. Dammit Montezuma's still such a prick.

Oh, too bad. I was hoping the modder incorporated the "attitude" of the characters as well as their voices. But after reading his page, it seems he's not an experienced modder. Too bad I can't help him there lul.

On your BTS, didn't you install the 3.19 patch? Anyway, you should go do that whilst waiting for Civ V.

This sure made me want to see a Sengoku Rance x Civilization mod. Or better yet, a full blown mod with Hetalia leaders, and a bunch of other weeaboo characters [e.g. Strike Witches sprites replacing the planes for each country they represent, stuff like that]. That would be lul.

Meh, what the heck, will try it still. Will post again after playing. [Currently playing Age of Mythology campaign BTW. Never knew it was filled with lul.]

Well, I didn't get too far since it didn't seem much different from the usual BTS, and my copy is a bit glitchy - so no wonder I was playing Warlords before, instead. I'll probably be playing a lot more of this cute little mod if I can get a better copy of the game. I also hope there's more work on the mod, since it doesn't change THAT much in the regular game. The diplomacy screens are a lot of fun though.

Reinstalling Civ4 and will try.

Have you tried it already? Did the modder add voices and such aside from the custom soundtracks?

As much as I'd want to, I'm not able to watch anime in general again. This may go on for another year, like what happened last year. Lack of a personal internet connection sucks.

Anyone still watching this? I'd fallen behind over the past few months, but decided to catch up when I heard about epidode 30. While the others didn't stand out as anything amazing to me, I have to say 30 is one of my favourite episodes. Though, it's weird how the anime takes the original stories and patches them together into an episode (there was almost no historical background on the Anglo-Japanese alliance, specifically why they formed an alliance - in hetalia's case, neither Japan nor England having any other nations as friends during that specific time frame)

For episode 22, not that a deck brush is any less bizarre, but compared to the comics the change lacked the same "lol what" factor of Chibitalia trying to give HRE his panties

I think I missed 21 in there ...

I wonder what the odds are we'll see Romano again before the end. We've seen Spain now, I was hoping they'd do the stories about chibi-Romano. Maybe in the second season since they've finished up Chibitalia? (Surprised they never did chibi-America with England and France, either)
