It's been quite some time since I have been here but I actually have been watching this anime for quite some time. I have to say, it's really awesome... I haven't watched anime in awhile but this got me back into it. =D

Hmm that would be a really shi**y move of them, but I cant remember there beeing that much fanservice in the series.

There was quite a lot in the first half of the series (mainly Miyuki and Haruka). Of course, the amount of fanservice decreased dramatically as the series crossed the halfway mark.

With it Re-aimed at kids, I wonder if they will keep the same animation quality. And will they do as much with the music as they did in the original? Because that was a great soundtrack.

The animation quality is still by Kawamori/Satelight and will mostly stay the same. However, I think they'll be toning down the fanservice significantly. Something tells me though that they'll simply air the Blu-rays which removed much fanservice but kept the same story I just hope Kawamori knows what he's doing if he does that.

And I agree, I'm still addicted to the Basquash soundtrack.

I think if they leave out this whole Legend stuff and just make a series about basketball playing robots it will get a lot better than the original series. Not that it was bad, but it couldve been far better, especially the ending.
The characters are awesome alone, so lets see what we will get.

Potential Basquash! remake:

Although it will be aimed at a more younger audience, perhaps this might be for the better? Either way, I enjoyed the original, so hopefully this relaunch will make it more successful/better

Great analysis, Kit. It seemed like they were writing the series on the fly and it makes me wonder if they had an ending planned out before they started. It had so much going for it in terms of characters, animation and music, but just failed to pull it to pull it all together cohesively. For me, when the moon cannon missed it's target, it kind of became a metaphor for the story going off course. It still had enough good moments through the end to not make it a total failure of a show, so in the end I rate it 8/10.

This series had great potential and I really disliked how the last few episodes were. Open-ended love triangle like Macross Frontier, rushed-like ending, plot going through the roof with many holes, etc... It just seemed that ever since the staff changed back around half way, things went down hill.

The series overall had its up and downs. Great on character development, music, animation, etc... but terrible with plot direction. The changes in pace were also sudden for the most part and felt rather awkward watching Dan and co. be ridiculous one episode and completely serious the next. It was an enjoyable series and will give this a 9/10 for originality. We do need more original series like this rather than game/visual novel/manga/light novel adapted stuff and if anything, Shoji Kawamori seems to always do well in that aspect.

On a side, note, anyone want to get me a birthday present?

The end was pretty bad and way too rushed.

Slash sacrificing himself was acted out lousy (like Faldios death in Valkyria Chronicles) and the whole sacrificing thing became a joke seeing that Slash survived it.

So Dan ends up with Iceman rather than Rouge? What a bad joke is this? Now all the development between Rouge and Dan are wasted.

In the end the anime wasnt that bad and with a good ending it wouldve been a great anime, despite beeing totally unlogical.
I mean saving the world by basketball is silly, but it was fun.
