Jul 21 2010 11:35 PM Finally got around to finishing this today. I liked the first half of the series, but the second half lost its mojo. I think the odd setting enchanted me early on, but the effect wore off mid-way and nothing else really carried the series. It felt like it was just going through the motions to get it over with, and it wasn't serious an anime enough for me to get attached to the characters. The 45 min format was excellent for the filler-esque and introduction eps, but 45 mins of a jumpy plot for the last half of the series was pretty difficult. Not satisfied with the incredibly open ending either. All that said, I'd probably watch a 2nd season for the filler eps, which were enjoyable. 6/10 from me.
Really like the 45-min monthly ep format though. I think some series could definitely benefit from the approach, and hope more use it in the future.
