Haha well actually I think you're misunderstanding something. I used to work at a kindergarten x daycare see [pay was just enough to get by], and I got laid off recently but I decided to visit the place just for old times' sake. Some of the kids were still going there so I watched this with them.

As for my age, I'll probably be forever sweet 13 even though I'm in the age of getting married and settling down.

Anyhow, is there any possibility for this getting a second season? I mean Sunred and Chii didn't have any problems getting one. I'm not sure how well the mascot x character fared with popularity ratings though. Any ideas anyone?

I see....not that you made a point of telling us you worked at a kindergarten...but your having the kids watch Higepiyo was quite amusing. And nope, being the series was based on a manga by the same creator of Oruchuban Ebichu, an anime series NOT for the kiddies....it was stated that this one was completed as well. I had hoped too, for a continuation of the story, since I wanted to know more about the whys of how Piyo-san came to be...but alas, that will be left to my vivid imagination.

EDIT:
v I see. Too bad then. Though I am a bit surprised to find out this show wasn't meant for kids.

^ Well now, look who jumped on the Piyo-san band wagon! Welcome aboard my fine friend, as any friend of Piyo-san's, is a friend of mine. Kids? You? And here I thought you were a rambunctious, anime obsessed teenager! Wonderful indeed! Yep, reading your post brought back memories of all the fine adventures I had, while watching Piroshi-kun and Piyo-san. Some of the episodes you mentioned, were way fun and memorable. I too, liked how Higepiyo was portrayed as "the Samurai chick." Legend has it though, he is said to possess the heart of a Samurai. Sounds romantic....windswept hair? Remember that? I loved it! Ah gee...gonna have to re-watch and fall head-over-heels for my yellow-feathered-escaped-from-research-lab hero, all over again!
Thanks for the memories, khael-san!

This is a good show, the kids really loved it. Animation may be subpar but it's not so bad for a 5 minute show, plus the character designs managed to be both cute and funny.

It's a gag slice of life so the only considerable hint of a plot would be the show's premise and the truth behind Higepiyo and Gyarupiyo, which I assume is tackled at an easy pace in the manga.

In any case, the funniest episode for me and the kids would be the two dream episodes [Seeing Higepiyo's face plastered onto characters from folk tales and fairy tales was a bit freaky but still funny] while the most awesome episode would be the chick samurai episodes.

VAs for Higepiyo and Gyarupiyo did a good job. The first OP, brief and rhythmically whimsy and clanky did fit the show. The second OP was perfect lulz for me and the kids [though the kids were only singing PIYO PIYO throughout the entire OP].

Anyway it was mostly enjoyable except for some episodes on Umano and Piroshi's rivalry that doesn't showcase any food in it.

For a Kids' show I give it an 8/10. This made my visit a very fun experience. [Hopefully I managed to reel in some kids over to OUR side.]

I had to spend 3 days waiting for all the episodes to download enduring a vacuum cleaner in the night just so it would finish. Goodness me, Higepiyo is demanding even outside the anime series!

I guess episode 33 where Higepiyo eats all the food and does not admit his crimes, sums him up nicely: a stupid, greedy and food obsessed chick. I just wished the mother would have actually cut him up! But it seems Higepiyo wasn't even man enough to take his punishment! Poor sport...

Let us hope they do a second series and make it based on Gyarupiyo. I did feel she did not gain enough screen-time and we are sure to get more entertainment out of her.

"Hanada Higepiyo!" A noble name indeed! I had fun with this series and as such, it will be added to my ever growing anime collection, as soon as the batch torrent is out, of course. I enjoyed this last and final episode. Too funny...wait til you see who won the prize and who makes a final last and surprising visit. Kudos to Yurrisan-subs for an excellent job in subbing. So glad I stumbled upon it long ago...an anime love affair to remember.
P.S. We did get an extra 30 seconds of showtime...glad for it.

I just watched episode 25, is it only me, or are the "chick-samurai" stories inspired by naruto? I saw a samurai changing into a woodlog, I even saw narutos kage bunshin-no jutsu. ROFL

Anyways, so far so good.

Good for you, warita-chan! I am glad you are enjoying it. Well, only one episode left to go and it is done! Three more episodes were subbed today, and released for all of us fans....will watch them in a bit. I already know this little treasure will go into my anime collection.
I too, enjoy Piyo-san as a Samurai...wish they would make a series just about him and his Samurai heart-of-gold.
Edit update! Just watched the last three episodes. Hilarious and I am sure the final episode will be too. Piyo-san and Hiroshi-kun are gonna be missed.
Lots of the best characters returned in episode 38 and we also got to see MechaPiyo too...

Ebichu and Higepiyo are from the mind of the same Mangaka, Itou Risa.

And that is why both are so good and fun to watch. First our little hamster-chan, Ebichuu and then our hero, Piyo-san. This last episode, I enjoyed more than anything, Piyo-san's enthusiasm, at reading the bedtime stories. He is just too good and makes it all the more fun. I am only gonna gripe about one thing with regards to the story...I wanted to know the secret as to how Piyo-san actually, came to be aside from the obvious, unless, of course, he too, was a test tube chickie-baby. And why did he escape? Why?
