Nov 7 2009 11:50 AM I ended up watching the latest episodes for the mentalist and FRINGE last night instead. So I just finished my marathon from episodes 03 to 13 of this series. Its okay.........I'm not sure what to say.....it was pretty tragic and I felt sorry for Alphard when she decided to "shoot" off her own arm to escape from the clutches of her past and I am glad she didn't die. From what I know.....this anime is basically the "sequel" to the 428 game......the game was setting up the premise for this anime basically. Hence, it could have made my viewing experience of this anime if I had played the actual game. Overall, I'm giving this anime 8/10.......it was very good and could have been excellent but it needed to be more gripping.....the OP kinda annoyed me but the ED was great, reminded me of one of the EDs for Black Lagoon. |

My suggestion, marathon it really quickly, it isn't really worth much more than that. |
Dude.....remember I wasn't watching anime for a good 10 months. I'm gonna watch another 4 or so episodes tonight and then watch the rest of the show tomorrow.
But Ausdo....you kinda make it seem that this series never really lived up to it expectation. |

Nov 5 2009 07:09 PM I just watched the first episode by myself....I'm hoping to get this series done by Saturday hopefully. Episode 01 was very good with excellently animated action sequences. I just watched episode 02.....I guess that will be it for today as it just hit midnight over here and I gonna go bed now. When the kid called the old dude his "onii-chan".....I thought that his so-called brother suffered rapid aging because of being infected by the Ua virus. After viewing episode 02......I want to watch this anime and also have a chance to play 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de in the future (I thought the game was a Wii exclusive but it seems it was released on PS3 and PSP at September 2009). I wonder if the game will ever come to the UK. |

Oct 3 2009 04:35 PM Well from the looks of things I'd have to say that with the exception of now Yun Yun saved Maria from the train I thought everything made sene somewhat. Heck from what I can tell about the movie that they are planning on doing it's going to be kind of like an OVA of the entire season in a way. Meanning it's going to be kind of a retelling of the series. Although they may try and go on from there, but I think it's best to leve it were it ended never the less. |

I actually suspect that there is quite an amount of homophobes lurking on these forums, to the extent where they downplay any homo-erotic tension in a show, even if they're as blatant as in Canaan.
I had a discussion in the "Taishou Yakyuu Musume" thread with someone who says that the depicted crush of a girl on another girl was irritating, but wouldn't have been if she had fallen in love with a guy, since "that's how it's supposed to be". This kind of anti-gay sentiments often flares up in other threads as well. It's weird, since homo-erotic undertones are fairly common in anime. Why are all these people watching when they hate it so much?

Well, the series failed as both a Type-Moon work, and as a good mystery/sci-fi. The ending itself wasn't bad per se, but indeed had "Ass Pull" and "Cheese" written all over. I'm not even talking about how it's continued torturing the idea of realism and defiling the dead body of it after it killed it in episode one (I complained about that a few pages ago).
Here's my ending summary:
-Cheesy lines -bad jokes -cheap "OMFG the main chara is gonna die!" suspension -penultimate villain repents! (shaving him into a monk was just /facepalm) -no hawt yuri sex at the end? NOOOOooo. -Oh nooooes, they're gonna make a crappy sequel? *nuclear launch detected*
Not to mention all the glaring plotholes, but I don't wanna complain, since I'm not sure I could take any more of the crappy premise anyway. So, as another victim of "good premise, bad execution", off to the trashbin it goes. I've waited and waited for something to come out of the story, for it to finally gain speed, but it stumbled down, fell on the face and never got up. The series ended up being most similar to DTB, and tbh I liked DTB a lot better (even though I didn't like it all that much). If they make a sequel/OVA, they could shove it up their @$$. I have less boring things to do. |

And you also are not mentioning the scene where it shows YunYun moving forward on the train after disconnecting the car Maria was in. |
There's no scene of Yun Yun moving forward on the train! She detatches the train cars, and sits there. Are you talkin about the fact that the train is still moving? because that's pretty DUUUUUH!!!! don't think there is a need to mention it. That's where 12 ends where Yun Yun and Maria are concerned. And when 13 begins, we see it right where it left off. Yun Yun sitting there on the cart watching Maria's cart get farther away, and then she changes her mind, jumps off and runs to Maria's car. Then it goes boom, shot of Canaan, and then ooo shiny Maria goes poof! and then it cuts to a shot of the train moving away from a cloud of smoke. We assume Maria and Yun Yun got wtfpwned (yeah right. lol) and don't see any of it until the shot of Yun Yun carrying Maria away from the wreckage of the blown up train car.
furthermore, why would she have stayed in Maria's car? think about it, the viewer isn't privvy to the exact request, but it's safe to assume that Maria asks Yun Yun to disconnect and leave her behind instead of having the car blow up still attached and possibly take Canaan and Yun Yun in the process. One of those "save yourself, am a goner anyway!" sorta situations.
Is it seriously that hard to understand that Yun Yun went along with this up until she disconnected the car, upon which time she changed her mind? Think of what she says when they cut to her carrying Maria "Canaan, I'm a person who always keeps her promises!" Obviously, she felt bad about letting Maria go and decided to go for broke, screw her request, and try to save her. Which she did. So hooray Yun Yun |
