Yes I'm late at finishing the OVA.

As expected, Shana S is mainly character development. What was great however was the final two episodes that gave insight on both Shana's past as well as a cliffhanging prequel to the upcoming third season. It seems as though Yuji and Shana parted ways some time after the conclusion of the second season despite the fact that we saw Yuji choosing Shana over Yoshida.

While there is no confirmed date for the third season, I'm expecting it as no later than this fall at the moment since I hear Shana season 1 and 2 are re-airing right now.

Overall, while the premise for the OVA is decent, I felt that the first two episodes didn't hold much meaning compared to the last two even for character development. The first one could easily have been in the first season while the second any where after the first season as a regular episode considering how much filler they already had in season 2.

The animation was rather cheap for an OVA that got a Blu-Ray and so I will be quite disappointed if they don't at least improve the quality for the third season. This series definitely deserves more love considering its continuous popularity. Music is as usual, good for this show and continued to be done by Mami Kawada, though a bit sad to see no KOTOKO.

Regardless, the 4th OVA really makes me eager to see the third season now. That teaser was too much and from what I hear it is a big portion of the upcoming plot as to why Shana may have left Yuji even for a second.

As for Shana-tan Frontier, it was basically hinting that Season III was "coming soon." While the last special is funnier than the previous three for S, the special as a whole is still not as good as the first or second season's

Preliminary Score: 9/10
Final Score: 8/10

Also, the third Shana-tan even tried to explain it as well, and oddly enough I was more or less spot on after watching it.

I kinda ignored the third Shana-tan...it's just not as funny as it used to be.

Well the only saving grace for this episode would be that the stonger a Torch's existence the easier it could be for her to take over that role. So in other words after Yuuji called her Shana outright in the first season in front of everyone it pretty much made it were that her name was Shanna and that was how she looked like before even barging into anyone's existence though. Although that's my theory of that idea just for it to make any sense of what has happend so far.

Well oddly enough the 3rd OVA is now out and from the looks of it Shanna is on her own in another town it would seem. From my guess it would mean when the 3rd season comes out it'll pick up right after the end of the OVA here.

doubt it. The second and final part of the OVA should be in September. The 3rd season will most likely pick up from season 2 and finish whatever is left of the source material. The plan for the OVA was to not only focus on character development using the novels of 0, S, and SII, but to also give time for the novels to progress further. The original plan I believe was so that Ito Noizi could finish the story, but from the looks of things, that doesn't seem to be happening just yet as volume 20 just came out in April. There is the possible likelihood that the 3rd season could start and like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood as well as a couple other series lately, have the final source material finish the same time the anime finishes.

As for the episode itself, it was a bit slow, but given that it should as it was a two part arc instead of the usual 1 episode randomness that we've seen in the first two episodes of the OVA. I really liked how they dwell on Shana's past prior to meeting Yuuji, not to mention that loli loli Shana appeared The one thing that bothered me this episode though was the power that Shana had for tracing back people's memories for those that she barges into the existence of. It was never revealed, let alone used in the anime and I kinda dislike how they made it up as they went here. Although the counter to that is that Hirai's existence was weak, it really irks how they just made it up so late into the franchise...Anyways, everything seems obvious so far, but I'm very curious as to how Shana will solve this case, so I look forward to the final OVA in September.

Okay, I tried asking this question in the "general anime discussion" thread but to no avail. Therefore, here it is: -

How much of Margery Daw's past is revealed and her "love like" in the second season of Shakugan no Shana ??

Don't tell me all the details but I kinda know the outline of things but as I haven't watched the 2nd season at all....I was wondering if anyone could give me a simple answer. So does it or does it not ?

I'm thinking of watching season 2 but I always kinda just runaway from it and watch something else because of so many ppl saying how bad it is and stuff.

I thought 2010 was supposed to be a brilliant year for anime. I guess even robots can lie!

I wasn't lying.....2010 will be awesome....I don't want to make all those threads just yet. But thinking back at 2009, there were quite a few animes that were pretty good, too bad there were many medicore shows that overshadow them. I also believe that the part were many use a case of "exaggeration" on certain series' flaws making them sound awful and just a complete load of crap this eventually leads to many saying how bad this year.

Just take a look at Auso's post, it just an apathetic response.

Did you forget, every new season is "the worst season in history of anime"?

Looking at anime TV series in 2009, that only started in 2009 (so Jan 2009 and onwards), from my view.....I completed 26 anime TV series, currently watching 5 ongoing series and 4 On-Hold animes. I'm going to split them into 6 categories; Excellent, Very Good, Above Average, Average, Bad and N/A.

1.) Excellent: -

Kimi ni Todoke, FMA: Brotherhood, Natsu no Arashi! Akinaichuu, Spice and Wolf Season 2, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and Bakemonogatari.

2.) Very Good: -

Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou, Ride Back, White Album Season 1, Cross Game, Higashi no Eden, Tayutama - Kiss on my Deity, Hatsukoi Limited, Natsu no Arashi!, Sora no Manimani, CANAAN, Nyan Koi!, Asura Cryin' Season 2, White Album Season 2, Darker than BLACK Season 2, Sora no Otoshimono and Seitokai no Ichizon.

3.) Above Average: -

Asu no Yoichi!, Akikan!, Maria+Holic, K-ON!, Asura Cryin' Season 1, Princess Lover!, Umineko (it was really awesome but overshadowed by just too much boring crap) and 11eyes.

4.) Average: -

NONE

5.) Bad: -

The Sacred Blacksmith ----> this was really boring and I didn't bother watching it anymore after episode 6.

6.) N/A (only watched the 1st episode): -

Queen's Blade (was really good), Ristorante Raradiso (decent) and GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class (boring).

Those are my thoughts on last year and 2010 looks like it will be great considering the titles. I'm not really watching any of the Jan 2010 starts, watched their first episodes and thought to myself, I'll get back to them before they finish airing and it looks like thats what I'll be up to next week.

I think you're confusing the series with the Kugimiya Syndrome video where someone on 2ch or nico compiled many of the famous tsundere lines done by her into a long "musical".
There might have been a Shana-tan that did this but I don't recall it being 12 minutes long.

No. I was talking about a sound clip by Rie, though I'm not sure if she was actually the one who voiced that "porn" sound clip which was supposedly very, and I mean force of a thousand suns very, arousing.

Anyway, I'll just post a link here when I find it for the guys to enjoy.

I liked the first episode of Shakugan no Shana S. Sure the plot was not exactly stunning but it had it's charm and for a short OVA series I am not expecting much plot development. As for the second episode I do feel it was a waste of time, not only was it predictable but the it seems any issues in this episode could have simply been addressed in the third season of Shana. They could have, should have focussed on something more worthwhile. Then again with the current anime series on offer right now it is not like they have to try very hard to beat the competition!
