Dec 24 2009 08:06 PM What started with fanservice ended with fanservice. Honestly speaking, I don't know why people had such high expectations for the last episode as well as why they expected Yuuto's and Haruka's relationship to progress significantly. I don't know if they're still following the novels, but no one shouldn't have expected it to have had a solid conclusion, especially not when done by J.C. Staff, who will usually faithfully adapt series for the most part.
All in all, besides the two fanservice episodes, the series had more or less a more serious tone than the first season did and there was some pretty decent development, especially in the latter half of the series. Although the series tend to fall back on its repetitive comedic events, the series shouldn't be pulled down by that and for me it wasn't that big of a hindrance. This was probably one of the better shows this season given a lot of the other junk we've gotten like Kampfer and to some extent Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Of course, I will refrain on commenting on the latter until I watch the last episode later today.
Anyways, putting this series aside a little bit and looking at the references it made...it seems J.C. Staff will be working on another Maria-sama ga Miteru project soon given the hint in episode 6 and the "preview" in the last episode...Another To Aru Majutsu no Index also seems plausible, most likely after To Aru Kagaku no Railgun ends next spring. What was saddening though was that there was a lack or rather no Shana reference this time around. Hopefully this doesn't mean no Shana next fall after the 4 OVAs are finished.
Anyways, hoping for a Nogizaka Haruka Season 3 here since although not the best series out there, it's definitely entertaining to watch compared to most of the recent series out there.
