The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. A girl named Mizuki Himeji is actually one of the smartest girls in Akihisa's sophomore year, but she had a fever on test day and was pigeonholed into the F class. Besides Mizuki (who Akihisa secretly adores), the F class also has Yuuji Sakamoto, the class president who has been Akihisa's friend and partner-in-crime since the freshman year.

The school happens to have developed experiments to summon fantasy creatures, and Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses the summoned creatures in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

What an excellent series!! and to hear we are getting a second season just doubles my excitement.

For what I though was going to be a boring kiddy summon anime, it was nothing like that! It was a parody anime that worked! and that is hard to do in my opinion.

Character design was great, their summoned beings were actually cute and not annoying. Each character was individual enough that I thoroughly enjoyed everyone's screen time equally. Well..... there could always be more Shouko!! who is my wifu.

Story was interesting and random enough to hold interest, but not so out their to feel confusing. 13 episodes in this case was great for 1 season, I want more! but will have to wait. I can do this because this anime has some really high re-watch-ability.

I really enjoyed the art work as well, from the characters, to the shaft animation feel. Reminded me of a mix of Ef, Maria Holic and Bakemonogatari both in style and direction wise, so very well done!!!!

Overall best comedy/school life series this year, and I feel it will be hard to top

10/10 in my opinion.

The last episode and this series was one of the surprises of this season.
First the last episode: who would have thought that Akihisa got a second chance to win for Himeji's sake? It was fun to see the pencil suddenly appear to answer the deciding question. He really is stupid...although Shouko did let him win. She already got what she wanted and even though she may be dangerous to Yuuji she always seems to be nice to others. Himeji who intentionally erased her name to be able to stay in class F was also a very good scene. Akihisa really is stupid if he still doesn't notice that she likes him...Hmm, this stupidity seems to contagious this season (Yamamoto-sensei of Hanamaru Kindergarten also seems to have it). Okay enough of the episode.

I liked the series. It was fun to watch with some really interesting characters (who can forget Shouko with her tazer during the dates she had with Yuuji and the one of a kind Hideyoshi..). I would have loved some more background story. For example why does Akihisa have a special being?
Still it is a good comedy to watch so i think i will give it a 8.5 out of 10.
A second season would be nice indeed.

Best ending of this season... Best series of this season. looking forward to next season. But I feel bad for Yoshii, He really tried hard to make her life better, and she just threw it all away.

A good finale with quite a surprise. I wouldnt have thought that Aki wins and makes such a wish. But if fitted him.
Himeji has it really hard with him beeing so ultra dense. He could be out together with Yamamoto from Hanamaru Kindergarten ^^

This series gets only a 8/10 from me, because the first couple episodes were pretty boring and uninteresting.

Well I liked how they decided to grant the rematch even though they won at a point of were someone could have been seriously injured. I mean that was the lowest win I have ever seen, and to think Yoshii actually managed to come back with a Suden-Death match only to find out later on he wasted his wish for it.

Anyways I think tere is going to be a second season... at least that's what the sub group had to say about it.

Well never the less when it comes to a girls feelings he is a major idiot.

At the end he just another baka. But I rather think he just plain dense. Okay super hardcore dense !!

Nice tension during the test but at the end, pencil that rule the game !!!
I don't expect that, I was say WTH during the conclusion.

And I agree Akira-chan need more screen .... but she love BL you know so another WTH.

Enjoyable to the end and more reason to me to question test system. Test not a measure for people after all !!!!

Great finale and I wasn't really expecting that rematch. Great series and the little text about season 2 being announced....I hope its genuine but I'm still a little unsure with the whole "April's Fool".

Nice ending to season 1 and damn is Yoshii's elder sister, Akira-chan, is Super-HAWT......bring on Season 2, I want MOAR of her.

I'm giving season 1 a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Akihisa.....HONTONI BAKA desu~~.

On the weekend, I caught up with Baka to Test from ep 3 to 12, its hilarious.....kinda waiting for the finale. I was kinda annyoed with Yuko (the older twin) when she defeated Yuuji's Shōkanjū....like she didn't read the situation and then the dumbass teacher comes up to declare Class A's win, which sucked but I guess it wasn't to be because the series is still ongoing and hopefully Season 2 will be coming our way soon.

I wonder what Class F's gonna be like.....out with the orange boxes and in comes with the milk crates. Oh wait, could the milk crates be an upgrade !?!
