More Hakouki coming this summer: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-...eo-anime-series

They are said to be character development of Hijikata, Okita, Saito, Harada and Todou.

I have yet to finish Hekketsu-roku (waiting on Ruri) but to be honest, I enjoyed/am enjoying Hakuouki so far and did find the character development a bit lack luster for a show emphasized on the history of the Shinsengumi. I'm really interested in Saito's OVA since we don't really see much of him and curious as to what development they will be giving him (not to mention he's one of the few Shinsengumi to not succumb to giving himself demon powers)

So it ended. While the first season lacked fights and emotions this anime delievered both. And that made season 2 really great.

The characte interactions, the plot, just everything in this season was great. And realistic. I mean as realistic as it could be with the Rassetsu. You saw a lot of character deaths I didnt really see coming, especially Hijikata.
And seeing everony back in the epilogue really delivered the emotions I hope it would.

Overall this season gets a 9/10 from me. Season 1 got a 5 from me (I know above it says 7 but Ive gotten a bit stricter now with ratings).

Have to say I'm loving this season thus far. Seems they've finally gotten around to giving it real plot advancement in several areas now. Plus the twist at the end XD

A great ep. We got to know more about Saitou, an almost confession of Hijikata and finally Kondou is accepting that times have changed. I really thought he would be stubborn enough to let everyone die. But I must say its really a shame that Guns and such were invented and the age of the sword ended. Sure its easier to kill someone with a gun, but Im pretty sure killing with a sword is far more fun since its more personal.

But who is the baldie at the end? Cant remember him seeing somewhere. I was pretty sure Sannan finally betrayed the Shinsengumi and it were his Resetsu, but the baldie doesnt look like Sannan.

That would be none other than Chizuru's dad.

And its a bit unfair that Kondou is the only one who is allowed to wear his normal clothes, especially as the commander he should be a example for the others.

as shown in the episode it seems as if thats a sign that sooner or later kondou won't be the commander anymore . fact that he's the only one not in the western outfit also enhances that thought. overall was a good episode though so happy its finally subbed can't wait for ep. 2 x]

So finally the first real ep of the second season was finally subbed.

It plays right after the Shinsengumi are retreating to Edo. It really gives off the same feeling as back then and its good to be remembered of all the problems the Shinsengumi have.

I didnt think they wouldve to wear western clothes, even thought it suits them. I always thought they would be the last one to wear that and fight with guns and cannons.

The last ep finally had what I was expecting of this Anime, a lot of action and emotions.
It was great to see Hijikata getting pumped up while fighting Kazama and them almost beating each other.

Overall it was just Kit said. The problem in this anime were the slow first few eps and the mass of different plots. There were plot elements happening you only saw a few eps later again, like Kaorus brother. First he appears as a woman, then to attack the Shinsengumi, then to aid Okita and then to fight him. But between each of these was at least one ep (dont know how much inseries-time it was because I didnt pay attention to that) so that I dont really know if he was really needed. There would be enought plot without him and they couldve focused more on the Oni and the war. Okitas tuberkolosis wasnt really needed too in my eyes because it didnt really added anything except wasted screentime.

Characters were pretty good and not nearly as yaoish as I thought it would be for a group of bishies living together, whats good of course ^^
But here the same with the plot, there were characters I dont know if they were even needed, like Onsen. All that she has said couldve been said by Kazama when they met him too, without wasting time for another character.

But still this anime is not over, so lets see what they will do with the second season.

For now this anime gets a 7/10, because the first eps were pretty boring.

I wish someone would remake this. I see all the classic elements just needing development.
