ETU is a weak pro-soccer club in Japan that has experienced a continuous losing streak. Tatsumi Takeshi is their new coach. In the past, he led 5 English amateur clubs to the best 32 in FA Cup competitions, giving Premier League clubs a run for their money. Before Takeshi can change the fortunes of his old club, he must institute some radical changes sure to be unpopular with the team.

Really good show. From beginning to end the show was fantastic. Great plot and especially character development. Although it's sad that we'll never see ETU's future and how Tatsumi turns the whole league and team upside down, the way the series was planned out was arguably satisfying.

Studio DEEN had really outdone themselves. Although the facial expressions in many scenes could have been better, this is the highest quality work I've seen from them since the days of Higurashi, and not to mention that this show didn't even air in 720p, but looked as if it was produced as such.

Music was great. All originals, decent seiyuus all around that matched individual character personalities. Speaking of characters, the incredible amount of character development in this series is jaw-dropping. One would think that they would have to speed through the league stuff as a priority, but instead it was the other way around and may the story much more interesting and not your generic type of sports anime.

Enjoyment? Thoroughly from beginning to end. Very few sports titles rival this series, with of course series like Cross Game and Touch ranking leagues above it. However, the series as a stand alone was unique. Although I was a bit annoyed by how long some matches took, particularly the Osaka one, the series occasionally felt as if it was on the scale of Legend of the Galactic Heroes where the series dives into the little bits of strategy planned out by Tatsumi....the whole "plans within plans" making it psychologically interesting.

All in all, I was really hoping to see this series go all the way with ETU becoming the champs. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that's ever happening. Regardless, a good end to the series. Although no the most satisfying, I'll take it.

Preliminary Score: 8/10
Final Score: 8/10

A really nice ending for this anime. Again you saw how smart Tatsumi is in bringing everyone together to relax a little.

But with that ending I highly doubt there will be a second season, even though it would be great.

Overall a really good series with interesting characters.
It gets 9/10 from me.

Way to go, ETU! Another great ending to a great series. I loved this one and will miss the great humor, characters, and just the whole damn sweetness of it. Glad to have tagged along to savor victory with my favorite all-time Futbol Team. Damn, if it was not a fun way to send the boys back into winning. What a better way to keep them motivated than to throw that fun Curry party, well, to remind the guys that behind every great team, big or small, lies the backbone of what makes it all happen...the unspoken heroes...the fans, the cooks, the management team, the PR team...toss them all together, and yep, you all are united! I will miss this one and maybe, re-watch it, at a later time...gets an 9/10 from yours truly.

A nice game and they really did do a Giant Killing. But hell how long was that game? 10 eps? But really nice to see the tactical and psychological part of a game for once.

@ImTakes: In football there are mostly two games a team has to play another. So I dont think thats a hint for another season, even though I would like it ^^

Way to go, ETU! I was so happy to see them kick Team Osaka out of the Futbol park. The look on the Dutch coach's face said it all and kawaii, Tatsumi-kun's look of complete and utter satisfaction, was well worth the wait. I was cheering the guys, too. To watch funny and hyperactive, Sera-kun, kick the winning goal was so much fun. Ah! Man! Another series that I have really enjoyed, about to be wrapped up...but wait...there is talk of a rematch...are they for real or just teasing us fans on? We shall see...

So now ETU is in a real pinch. Osaka has both a good offense and a good defense.

Bah! So not true... my man Tatsumi has them pegged and good, too! We look like we could pull this one off and make a killing but of course, Team Osaka has a few nasty and dirty players who, though almost worn out, pull a few fast ones...man, I hope they eat dirt after this latest ploy. Just when our hero, Baki, is gonna make another goal, what does worn-out and fatigued, Hiraga do? He cheats! I mean, what the hell, pulling on Baki's jersey like that? Get him thown out, already!
I am gonna miss this one as we are down to two episodes...

So now ETU is in a real pinch. Osaka has both a good offense and a good defense. And that Kubota guy is just like Messi, even though maybe a bit more autistic. And he resembles the three brasilians from a while ago.

So what is this for a referee? Ending the half in the middle of an attack? How sh*tty.

I was wondering as I watched the latest episode, is it possible the series ends with ETU winning the game and thus the name, "Giant Killing?" I mean, it is a long shot since the other team is way more talented and much more focused. The ETU guys came off as desperate and amateur players when compared to Team Osaka...and I would be pissed too, like the ETU hardcore fans...what gives? Maybe, it ends on a win...who knows?

^ Agree...was never a big fan of sports related animes until this one. I have really enjoyed it because of the characters, their obsessive futbol peccadilloes and their funny, but interesting personalities. The character designs help make them who they are...sharp eyes, pointy nose, funny looking knees...great voice acting. My favorite Futbol coach? Why Maachan....always in need of a good shave and bath...of course, Tatsumi is easy on a fangirl's eyes and sexy, but I still like my unshaven hero more.
