The series, set in Saitama, follows the story of Ren Mihashi. Mihashi was the previous ace pitcher in his middle school's baseball team, but it seems that he only got the position because his grandfather was the owner of the school. His teammates (especially the team's catcher) hated him, and they always lost their games. Mihashi is thoroughly convinced that he is a lousy baseball pitcher and he graduates through middle school with extremely low self-esteem. He then transfers to Nishiura high school with plans of quitting baseball, because he does not believe he is good enough to succeed at baseball. However, he is dragged into Nishiura's baseball team by their coach. Assisted by his new teammates (and especially the catcher, Takaya Abe), he grows in stature, confidence and skill, helping his team excel with his own abilities.

Above is the plot for season 1 and season 2 basically picks from where it left. rolleyes.gif

Sorry Julez for leaving this thread so alone for the past few weeks....been busy.

Episode 10 is out and I'm still earnestly waiting for a DDL to appear somewhere.

Episode 9 was good and Bijou are getting points and it certainly doesn't lookm good for Nishiura as the flaws of the battery are revealed during the 2nd season and is being put to the test right now.

I thought the match would conclude in the next eppy? At the end of the preview I think she said the third game will conclude next episode. But I agree with you on the fansubs, I know we aren't supposed to complain on here, and I won't ever again but they are kinda slow compared to the others. We have to wait almost a week for it to get subbed and by then the next ep has aired lol. But at least they are high quality subs, so I should shut up and appreciate
Abe-kun's dad has finally made an appearance, I can see where Abe gets his baseball love from.
Nishiura is winning but I feel kinda bad for the other team, since it's full of nice guys too. Still maybe this will motivate them to try even harder. The catcher needs to pull his weight more, he should go under Abe-kun's tutelage to learn about signs and when/how to use them lol
Hanai has had this inferiority complex around Tajima ever since the show started. I think now he will finally deal with his feelings, just like Momokan wanted him too. He is important and the team does rely on him, too bad he doesn't realize it yet.
It looks like JCD and I are the only ones on this forum who adore this show If there are any other fans reading, don't be shy, enter the discussion!!

NOOOOOOOOO....episode 04 ends with them at the end of the 5th inning with the scores 6-0 ......the way this match is going, it could end up finishing in episode 06 and bundled with fansub release delays....my hand is reaching ever more towards to the manga.....I want to know NOW!!

Decent episode but I'm growing impatient...bit by bit...bit by bit...bit by bit. I wish I could watch the entire season in one sitting like I did with the first season but that ain't gonna happen...I can't abandon Oofuri.

I haven't seen episode 3 yet, waiting on DB's release because the avi version plays better on my laptop.
But about the subgroups, yeah I wish that they would spread out and not focus so much on the most popular series (this season's case = K-ON!!) But at least this series is being subbed by two great sub groups... it's a bit of a wait, though but I think its worth it.

Yes the mothers of the boys on the team are pretty cute. I like how embarrassed Hanai gets whenever his mom is around Abe seemed indifferent to his mom showing up. And Mihashi's mom is always so enthusiastic and funny, I remember when they were all at Mihashi's house and she was calling for him, and they thought her voice sounded like a chicken or something lol

Episode 03 was good but I really thought it would finish in this episode but I should have known....this is Oofuri afterall, the game will definitely play out and I hope everything is settled and finished in the next episode.

For some reasons, the mothers of the Nishiura BB Team are just too cute, I mean they kinda act childish adults but in a really cute way....I like it.

I'm a bit down now because I really thought it would be getting releases of this episode a bit more faster but I don't think that will be the case. Its a real and honest shame that no one else is bothering to pick this series up......it saddens me. Central-Anime are old and good thats why I am happy it is in their hands but why are all the subbers concentrating on series with multiple subbers like K-ON!!, Angel Beats!, etc.

I think the next match will be about 1 or 2 episodes since they are aiming for a called game but since, I haven't read the manga....I have no idea how the events will turn out. **Reaches out to the MANGA....."I want to read you NOW!".......no I must refrain from this deadly temptation**

Since this 2nd season is meant to be the whole Summer Tournament and how far Mihashi & Co get far in it. I don't think they will go all the way but I have a hunch that they will beat Bijou (Roka's team) before being knocked out at the next round after it, so it will look like their win against Tousei wasn't a fluke to the mass public.

Episode 03 has aired but unfortunately not subbed yet and I believe it will be released by Tuesday night or Wednesday.....it would be awesome if it came before then.

I think the only similarity between Cross Game and Oofuri is that they are both about baseball. I did group the two together in the Giant Killing thread, because they also focus on personal drama along with the game, whereas in Giant Killing the main focus is on the game.
I like both Cross Game and Oofuri for different reasons. I can't really say which one I like better.
Sure I have gotten annoyed with Mihashi too at times, especially in the first season, but he grew on me as a character. I agree with JCD that the facial expressions he makes are hilarious!!
I really admired Abe-kun in episode 2 when he was trying his hardest to be patient with Mihashi. "Cool as a cucumber....."
I wonder how many episodes the next game will be? I hope it isn't as long as the Tousei match, which was like 10 episodes. And from what was seen of the opposing team, there are some quirky characters there as well.

I absolutely love Oofuri and I won't dispute that there a lot of female fans for this particular sport series but there are still a bucket load more male fans for this series.

Major's lead is more like Hajime from Hajime no Ippo or Luffy from One Piece, he's strong and confident, whereas, Mihashi is just weird but the faces and expressions used in Oofuri are just incredibly funny.

I prefer Oofuri over Cross Game because Oofuri has more life and enery compared to Cross Game. Cross Game is really really good but I still like the baseball action that happens in Oofuri because it seems soooo much more realistic than the other. At the end of the day, the only similarities between the 2 series is that they both wanna get to and win Koshien and they are baseball animes but thats where it stops, they are fundamentally 2 very different series. As to person who said they were alike.....who was it ?? It could have been me but I don't remember too well.

What I honestly don't like about Oofuri is the gayness femininity of the characters (though I suppose mainly Mihashi)

Maybe it's because I played high school baseball, but guys who play sports are not emotional overwrought prissies, and yes I know I'm exaggerating a great deal. I want my sports heroes to be confident and cool, and Oofuri is about the exact opposite.

That said, I know this series has its fans (mostly of the female persuasion), and that's fine. This post is mainly because I saw someone say that this show is like Cross Game, which it is not. At least, it has major differences in characters.

So, I hope you fans of Oofuri enjoy this season. I'll be watching the sixth season of Major.
