I think it was a decent effort, but the whole thing felt too damn rushed to even begin to care for any of the story or the characters.

I'm gonna give my 2 cents on this movie series. I watched the first 4 movies in one go about 2 weeks ago, the first 3 movies I rated 8/10 but the 4th movie I rated 9/10 on MAL.

I just finished watching the last 2 movies because I wanted to finish this series before the end of this year and I scored both movies a 8/10 on MAL.

Okay...now above is just what I did after watching them. I've heard about this series via the manga and about it getting movies and stuff, at the time I wasn't interested in reading the manga and after watching the movies, I'm still not too bothered about reading the manga. I do like some of the characters like Rygart, Zess, Gram the Owl, Cleo and Sigyn (who's super crazy hot.....OMG just look at those oppai, she even dresses seductively) so perhaps in the future I might pick up the manga to see how much of the final movie was faithful to the manga.

Anyways, I thought the story was okay, the characters were kinda "meh" but none of them really stood out apart from the female characters with huge oppai, which to be honest is a bad thing when a story needs to rely on ecchi to get the war story across to the audience, I know they didn't use it much but the story could have had more of an edge, it kinda felt lame at times.

The music for this series was one of the pluses as well as the excellent animation that was delivered. Excellent production in that respect.

Overall, this series could have been better but since it was very faithful to the source material....the manga needs to up its game. The series borders between a rating of 7/10 and 8/10 for me but for now I shall give it a rating of 8/10.

Just saw movie 6 and it was great. The battle Rygart vs. Borcuse was just great, especially when it came down to a dogfight. The only things that was a bit stupid was that Borcuse had about 50 litres of blood but thats nothing new in animes.

Too bad its over for now. I must say I was quite surprised when I saw just now that this was the last one, but since the manga is still running there is hope it will go on.

The end with Narvi hearing about True and Rygart meeting his brother was pretty emotional.
Zess having family already was quite a surprise. I wonder why they didnt show her face, I mean its not like we could know her. Or at least there is noone who comes to my mind who could be it since all the women we got to see where Krisnas or not able to be it because of death or something.

Overall a great movie-series.
The war was pictured perfect in all his dark and evil facettes and the characters where all great and believable.

Movies 1-5 got each a 9 from me while this movie defenitely gets a 10/10 from me so overall a 9/10.
Maybe I will get to the manga one day to see how it goes on.

Oh wow. I love the imagery of Borcurse's Battalion marching towards Krisna with their big ass swords. Now if that is not evoking the crusades, I dont know what is.

The fact that all battles were fought down to the tooth and nails was great because even if you have advanced military equipment as Athens did, all wars boils down to that eventually.

The only issue I have with this movie was Borcuse vs Rygart. I enjoyed it but in my head the only person capable of defeating Borcuse was Girghe. There is nothing I like seeing more in an anime than psychos vs psychos. Till this day only Baccano has fulfilled that wish so perfectly.

I did laugh when Borcuse started shooting his gun pointlessly. The man was unrelenting. I admire that because I probably would have done the same.

This anime also had an nostalgic quality about it. In the end, im glad nothing was resolved. So many times in films, comics any other mediums, things are touted as "war" but you only actually get to see a battle. Im glad this anime didnt pretend as if the war was over. Given the political setup, Athens would not stop at just Borcuse's death.

All in all this series grew on me like fungus. For the most part I liked and identified with the characters. Rygart was the saving grace of this series but as Girghe and Borcuse were introduced is when I really started to enjoy it.

8/10

^ He was in the preview so most likely he isn't dead. Would be pretty stupid of them to kill of such a significant character for no reason. Though then again, the main conflict w/ him has been resolved already.

Anyway, probably the best episode thus far, things finally picking up. Looking forward to next (out mid-June fyi), I wonder if it's also the last? IIRC, it was announced to be 6 eps...

While the story is good - and I don't want to belittle the story before I say this - this is undoubtedly one of the best Mecha Action anime ever! The fight scenes are clever and all exceedingly well animated.

I kind of disagree, I think story takes priority to action in this one; while the animation quality is good in general, I found the style to be unpleasant, and perhaps lazy, as they cut to face too often, and rarely follow the movements through, thus the animation fails to create the feeling of fluidity as you'd find in Sunrise's or BONES' animation. Series gets props for artistic style, but not animation techniques, imo.

Cool thing is, the next movie should be out shortly.

The fight scenes are clever and all exceedingly well animated. It's hard to think of any show or movie that has consistently produced more good giant robot on giant robot action sequences than this one. Some VOTOMS, Gundam and Macross stuff has reached these heights, but like I said, never with this kind of consistency.

To this point I have no idea what his intentions were, and I guess I never will.

If you didn't see him die, assume he didn't. I mean, there was no spray of blood like with Nike... Maybe he did. But I'm gonna wanna see a corpse before I believe it.

I was really waiting for this one because the trailer looked awesome and it really didnt disappoint.

I really wanted to know why Rygart looked horrified in the trailer and now I know. Seriously Borcuse is just a wild animal. He lives for war, it is in his blood.

One thing, I did not like was they did not show the end of Girghe vs Borcuse from movie 4. That annoyed me. I knew Rygart could never beat Borcuse. Like ive always maintained, it takes a pyscho to kill a pyscho. Only Girghe could possibly beat him.

While Ive always like Rygart, I think Girghe claimed his spot as my favourite character. He was so dam badass. Right at the bit when he defiantly killed Nike was amazing. To this point I have no idea what his intentions were, and I guess I never will.

There was superb development with Hodr as well. I didnt think he was the type of person who could get angry, but when he did I felt bad for him.

Anyway, this was an excellent installment. Even though it is set to end with movie 6, there will probably be another series of movies after this because I dont see how they could resolve it all with one movie left.

Yeah youre right. I already forgot the reason for the war. But still most soldiers of Athens are normal persons. Only a few like Borcuse and Nyke are outright bad.

Thats possible, even though his fear looked pretty real. And why should he make the moves you make when you are feared if he is only acting? From what Ive seen the people dont have monitors for communication inside their golems.

What I like about this series is that it really depicts how hard war is since you actually see people dying you know since movie one (Lee, True and Elsa). Not like other animes (for example Bleach). And you dont really have a good side and a bad side since both have their psychos and both are killing mercylessly.

I must say I was really surprised that Girghe was scared of an actual battle even after killing comrades in training. At least he was great at the end. But how come he wasnt scared then anymore?

If you asks me Athens is definitely in the wrong. They made up false allegations of Krisna conspiring with Orlando, but really they need and want Krisna's energy resources. Secondly, Zess doesnt understand why Hodr didnt surrender. Zess doesnt know the conditions facing Hodr. Hodr would have surrendered if Athens did not demand the heads of the entire royal family. On all levels, Athens have been as antagonistic as they possibly could be. If Krisna are killing with no scruples, its only because they have been backed into a cage.

As for Girghe, I think him acting scared was a diversion so he could go off on his own. Afterall, if you were not supremely confident in your abilities, it is pretty much a suicide mission going against a squad led by General Borcuse alone.

And yeah Nykes scream was really ugly, like a mad beast. And even normally she is nothing more than that, at least if her colonel isnt there.

I really like Sigyns and Cleos relationship. The way Cleo warms p to Sigyn is really nice. But I mean, you cant really threat Sigyn as youre enemy can you?
