Sure the beginning was silly and I didnt like it but after getting to know a lot of characters it was easy to take it serious despite the "Galactic Pretty Boy"-thing.

And even with giant plotholes I enjoyed this show and thats the important thing. And as I already said the characters were the biggest positive point and thats wahts second most important to me.

I wouldve written something at the end, but that wouldve been a double post.

Im totally against your comment but probably because I took the series serious while you didnt.
The characters were all great and interesting (especially Kanako, Sarina and Marino), the story was nice, the atmosphere and animation was good too. The love-triangle was good and overall the character interactions were the big positive point of this show.

Sure it had plotholes and couldve been better. But, honestly, which anime nowadays dont deserve the sentence "Sure it had plotholes and couldve been better"?

I really wouldve wanted it to go longer, too bad it is over.

A 9/10 from me.

I'm curious as to how you took this show seriously from the get go. I mean as soon as they brought out the Galactic Pretty Boy reference, I was thinking that this show was definitely going to be BONES screwing around with as much wack as possible.

The Love triangle was interesting, but it was frustrating to see Wako be absolutely pathetic until the final 2 episodes.

As for you plot hole claim, of course any show could be better but this show had holes the shape of golf balls unlike many others. It may have been better if it had gone on longer but the biggest problem I saw with this show is that it used the whole formulaic "magical girl" theme for this show...it just doesn't work here despite how hilarious it is.

Kind of surprised to see no one comment on this show given how "popular" it was while it was airing.

So Star Driver in the end, is really a joke series. You really could not take this series seriously no matter what. If you took this series seriously, there was no way you were going to like this series. Story wise and character development wise, this series was garbage at it. A poor (but funny) protagonist, and poor supporting characters (aside from the "vice president"). The show left a lot of plot holes and Tauburn was basically invincible. Each time Tauburn/Takuto had another trick up its sleeve, so it just didn't make any sense why he didn't just bring out his full power to knock out Kiraboshi right away....and I won't even get started on the plot holes.

Animation wise, this show had its moments. BONES animation quality is usually top-notch, but this felt more of a cross between I.G.'s wacky animation and CLAMP's drawings. That said, it certainly was bad, but it just didn't feel right...then again the show itself was a mess overall anyways.

Music was probably the best aspect of this show. Solid themes by Aqua Timez, 9nine, and SCANDAL... and of course amazing inserts, particularly Haruka Tomatsu's/Sakana's Monochrome. Voice actors/actresses chosen was also very good overall....though again, supporting characters didn't really play much of a role in this show...it was mainly Takuto shouting Apprivoise half the time

Enjoyment? Star Driver was fun. Definitely unexpected from BONES and the show was certainly "fabulous" with the whole "Ginga Bishounen/Galatic Pretty Boy" theme going.

Overall, there were a number of things that annoyed about this show: 1) formulaic repetition of storytelling per episode and huge recycling of animation sequences. 2) too many "filler" episodes where nothing significant happened. 3) the story.... While the latter is less of a concern since I took this show to be joke to begin with, the former 2 really disappointed as I was hoping for BONES to be productive given that it was their only show in the fall. In the spring when they started doing GOSICK, everything seemed to have fallen apart in both story and quality. Another significant thing I noticed...the show is written by the same person who wrote the script for Revolutionary Girl Utena. To some extent, this show definitely had a lot of Utena-like moments...unfortunately they were almost always poorly executed...and an abrupt ending was certainly not a way to leave off an already poor show.

Star Driver could easily have been an amazing show and truly "fabulous." Unfortunately, it's pieces were simply misplaced and its a shame given that its an original work. Hopefully BONES will do better next time with an original work. They simply need to brush up on the story since everything else is there. As such, the rewatch value of this show is very low. Once you see it once, it's only funny to watch the "transformation" sequence over and over again (and monochrome inserts). The rest of the show can easily be skipped.

Preliminary Score: 7/10
Final Score: 6/10

Like I said in my last past I still think Sugata is just testing Takuto and to do that he needs to become the hardest enemy he could become.

Yes Kanako is my favorite character in this anime too. Its easy to see that she has her heart at the right place and isnt just the coldhearted rich girl you could think she is at first glance.

In the end it looks like a lot of people only joined the Crux to either stop Head (Keiko) or at least keep the casulities low (Kanako).

Really too bad it ends next week, especially since I hope we get to know a bit more about Serina and the vice-president and the backstory of the Cybuddys.

I cannot believe it is all ending next week! It seems so fast and sudden... a few things about the latest episode though:

I hope Sugata feels the same about Keito, then Wako is free to be with Takuto. I've felt some more sympathy for Keito after the past few episodes, and I'm hoping she gets a happy ending. However, it sucked that she just stood there and let her seal be broken though.... It's as if she just doesn't care anymore now that she got to kiss her one true love, Sugata

Watanabe Kanako is the best character in the anime, I loved how she said "What do you think I have this big boat for?!" after telling Takashi and Simone to evacuate the islanders. She always manages to surprise me with her eccentricities, like kissing on the glass and during class she would start randomly talking to Takuto interrupting the lesson. She is a good person at heart, which is why I like her most.

I still don't understand why Sugata decided to join Glittering Crux. My guess is to help out Keito who was in a bind, but now that she has surrendered what is the point? Maybe he will do something to stop all of this, because if he does not then all of Takuto's fights would have been in vain.

It was about damn time for Sugata to join the Glittering Crux. I always said he will be the endboss. My guess is that its a test for Takuto to see if he really can protect Wako, both physically (since Sugata is a master swordsman) and psychically (defeating his best friend).

I think it was instinct that Takuto knew Head is his father. After all they dont only have the normal blood-connection but a connection through zero-time, marks and stuff too.

Hmm that is true, I didn't think of that

I was thinking he just recognized him instinctively.

Haha Takuto punching Head was the highlight for me in this past episode. I liked how he told him not to play his games with him. I wonder how he knew right away that was his father?

I think it's cuz head talked like an older man "Excuse me, young man. I need some directions" Teenagers dont usually talk like that, do they?

Other than that, I am confused as to why Sugata joined the Glittering Crux at the end? My theory is that he is helping out the East Maiden with whatever reason she has to join them.
