After watching episode 1 it felt like i really wanted to watch the previous series instead of this one. I thought i was watching a seriously underdeveloped series which is going to become the worst series of this season. That is not a good way to feel about a first episode.
Sadly i must agree with you all. The character design is worse than from the previous series. Hopefully they are going to have a serious talk with the characters designers to improve their work. For an anime like this one the characters have to be likable.
The fight parts were nice but it was too little to help this episode. The love interests felt uninspired and dull.
The story may be the only thing that has made sure that i'll watch the second episode.

Just watched the first ep of the new series and Im hugely disappointed. The animation is soooo awful it looks like puke on a paper. Everyone is soooo ugly drawn, Juri is the only person who is a bit acceptable.
Story isnt that interesting either since nothing really happened.
So if you didnt like the first series dont even watch this one, its far inferior.

My problem with the characters is that they definitely moved more towards the moe-blob stylings. It's not all the way there, more like a combination of Suzuhito Yasuda's sharp designs and the moe-blob stylings of K-ON! or so. Greatly disappointing still cause I really liked the old designs.

But the story is only barely introduced so far so it's a lot of just seeing all the characters, though some of the fighting animation was awesome (for what very little fighting there actually was). The scene where Yae casually gets out of the ropes and just completely decks that guy was awesome. Had to watch that scene multiple times.

The only reason I watched the show was cool chara design (and well, I have a bit of meganekko fetish).

From all I've seen in the first series, even if the remake gets timing right, I highly doubt it will be able to escape the borders of mediocrity. I mean, it's still a shounen series about a bunch of people with special powers, including moe girls to fit about every existing fetish out there. Hard to expect a masterpiece from the premise.

A chance for redemption. How nice. I hope they get it right this time.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. The anime was okay but it didn't really develop in the way I wanted it to. Hopefully, this re-boot will prove to be successful.

Glad to hear this news. I tried the first series, but I lost interest in it, which was a shame since I did like the character designs. Hopefully it will be more successful this time around.

I think it was a pretty good show. I love the story, the characters and the fights. I probably woudlve given it a 8/10 back then.

But its good to hear there will be another season. I dont know the manga so I will let me get surprised ^^

A reboot of Yozakura Quartet was announced. A new anime that will restart the show from the beginning and follow the manga, since the first anime did not. Think FMA: Brotherhood, except not nearly as high profile a show. I'm hoping they keep with the same type of character designs as the first anime and Durarara since the original creator also did those character designs.

I'm excited. I rather enjoyed Yozakura Quartet before although it was only a mediocre show. Hopefully the manga storyline is a lot better and can fix the complaints about the first anime.

the series had so much potential, but the story was lacking so many crucial setups that it ended up not being nearly as good as it could/should have been >_<.

though I WILL look into the mangas.
