I found it better than the first but still not good. Still horrible animation, lame characters and boring story. If the next one isnt better I drop this.

Whelp, it didn't get any better with the second episode. Worse, I saw the story in that episode animated before, so it's bad and repetitive.

This series supposedly follows the Manga more closely, so they should be going along whatever Shiro wrote as an overall arc. But as I recall, the manga is incomplete, so I'm not sure what that gains us.

Doubt that there'd be that significant a significant change in animation. Story also depends, in my memory, most of stand-alone eps in GiTS were pretty bad.

BTW, I heard a different studio (or was it director?) was supposed to do every separate episode, any word on that?

I think a different production team for each episode, but all done in-house at Production I.G. I know there are six writers listed on ANN, the next one being the main writer from GITS S.A.C. Anyway, maybe that means we will see an improvement in animation quality in the next episode.

Never saw the movies (but I intend to) but still thought I give this a try. But it was mostly a waste of time. Uninteresting and completely annoying characters (especially the main-woman was so damn annoying and hateable), plot where you dont know where left and right is and horrible animation for the characters.
Dont know if I will watch it all, but at least I will try ep 2.

Story seems OK, but character animation is ugly as firetruck. One would think they'd learn from the two movies, but no. I guess they've gotta appeal to their masochist fanbase, too. The environments are actually OK though, and I like the touches on the mecha - unlike humanoid characters, cel-shading actually WORKS on machines, and make them look more pretty/gritty/whatever. The little scratches on the armor were a nice touch.

Anyhoo, let's hope the story is worth the eye-rape.

My Thoughts:

If you aren't a fan of CGI animation, you probably won't like this. If you are a fan of CGI animation, you probably still won't like this. To my eyes, the quality is worse than either of the previous movies. It looks like cut-scenes from a PS2 game. The story will be familiar to those who saw the previous movies, but it's executed in a messier way. I'll keep watching, but only because I am a Masamune Shirow fanboy.
