Nov 30 2011 05:33 PM When I started watching this anime, I did it more out of boredom then anything else and thought: ah, this is really cheesy and.... bahhhh But just like you said JCD, about in half of the anime it suddenly picked up and glued me to the screen. I practically marathoned through it and I must admit it is a nice series. I would as well give it 8/10. |

Nov 30 2011 04:34 PM The last time I watched this series was back in June according to the posts in this thread, which makes sense. I re-watched only episode 11 and then continued to finish this series, which actually turned out to be a pretty good anime with strong episodes. I like the little 1 year time skip and the whole 1 minute thing with Kotetsu is kinda funny and what's even crazier is the schoolgirl Karina has feelings for our dear old Tiger, which to me kinda seemed out of place as well as being natural in a sense as most of the other characters see her as more of a hero and comrade, whereas, Kotetsu saw her as a girl with a passion in singing. I'm not too surprised that this series is getting movies to continue its tale. Good Job to Sunrise. I'm rating this series 8/10. |

you know, that alternate reality would make an interesting 26th episode, OVA or some T&B special with Kotetsu's death after Barnaby directly shoots him destroying H-01 in the process and Kaede is witness of his accidental murder seconds before using Blue Rose's power to untie her hands, help the other heroes and everything else happens just like ep.25 except for Tiger being alive
"...years later since she ran away from home to the big city she grows up looking just like her late mom and is training her NEXT ability with the heroes, so much it evolves that now she can copy and keep all their powers indefinitely but her grudge towards them grows day by day to avenge her father as they were unable to save him, blaming specially Barnaby, the hero she admired the most in the past" |

Sep 18 2011 11:33 PM Tiger & Bunny, the first original work from Sunrise since Code Geass...not counting the Gundam franchise. A show that targets a more American/western audience through the use of super heroes and super villains as the primary protagonists and antagonists in this show. Tiger & Bunny's story starts off very silly and cheesy with vast amounts of character introduction until around episode 10 where we get the first real arc of the show, i.e. Jake vs. Barnaby. After episode 13 we get more character development until around episode 19 where the final arc of the show begins to take hold. The execution during the main arcs of the show was more or less flawless. Splendid writing and no "miracles" and the like; only a bunch of twists and turns that make your head spin. The whole story actually revolves around Barnaby trying to discover the truth behind his parents' death, which was completely different than what was initially expected. Furthermore, the whole idea of Lunatic as the antagonist masked the true antagonist of this show, i.e. Maverick. Overall, the plot could have been better and did away with a lot of the cheesy comedy, but it was very nice to see how a lot of those arcs tied together in the final arc when Kotetsu was framed as a criminal by Maverick.
That said, Tiger & Bunny wasn't all perfect writing. In fact the biggest plot hole is what happened to Samantha...we know that Maverick captured her but did he actually kill her off? Like with all anime nowadays, a person is not dead unless we see the body.
Animation wise was pretty solid as expected from Sunrise. While no episode came even close to the animation quality shown in the OP/ED sequence, let alone the first couple episodes, the standard was pretty consistent thereafter. The art could have used some work for consistency but there wasn't anything particular that was far-fetched.
Music was pretty decent in this show. Really loved the second OP/ED pair, especially that ending theme. The first OP/ED pair was also not bad either. The soundtrack is also a great piece of work, probably one of the better ones this past season, if not the past two seasons (barring GOSICK during spring).
Character development was solid. Each hero except Fire Emblem and Rock Bison had their own little arc and all had some relevance to the story in the end. My only complaint was the dullness of some of them that made them feel to filler-like early on. They need to transition better.
Enjoyment? The first third of the series was really the worst part of the series. It was a bit painful to sit through a bunch of little bickering between Kotetsu and Barnaby as it was the same thing over and over again, despite the strong character buildup. However, once Jake's arc finally kicked in, everything went into high gear for this show and we got what this show was really about. The finale strongly hints at a potential sequel, which wouldn't be that much of a surprise given how big of a hit this series has been and its Sunrise. What the new project is will be an interesting tale this November.
Overall, Tiger & Bunny really became the surprise that it was. For a show that I shafted early on for its pathetic writing and direction, I admit I'm impressed that it managed to really pull itself together to make a strong original work. This year has been filled with great originals like Ano Hana and Madoka, and now Tiger & Bunny will also add itself to that list. Next up is to see whether or not Hanasaku Iroha can do the same. Hoping for a sequel for this show after all those hints and loose plot ends. Preliminary Score: 6/10 Final Score: 8/10 | QUOTE | | ...Heroman 2? Oct 1st?... |
Fall lineup has been confirmed since earlier this month, so no. Japan sets up airing schedules roughly 1 month in advance and we are now at the point where all air dates should be confirmed (unless it airs in late October, which I doubt)

Sep 18 2011 01:49 PM Except for the retirement from the retirement the end was just great. The way Maverick got beaten and how stayed a great villain till the end was perfect. And Agnes had her big moment which was just an incredible and smart move, just how she deserves it. Overall this was a really enjoyable series with great characters (except second-half-Kotetsu since he became more and more pathetic when his powers were declining), a lot of fun and a cliche but still great story. A second season would just be great. But I wonder if Lunatic or Ouroboros really would be the antagonists there. In my eyes Lunatic will never really go down. I just have that feeling. And if Ouroboros really is as strong as Maverick said the it was implied withthe Illuminati reference than they are are number too big for the heroes and the credibility. A full 10/10 from me for this show. |

Sep 18 2011 04:07 AM Well, surprisingly, they managed to write Maverick quite well. End-season cliffhangers should be made illegal though. Also, I was expecting Tiger to turn into an agreeable grandpa, and pass the hero-ship to his daughter instead. |

I wonder whatelse Maverick has planned since I dont believe he will just give up on his ambitions. |
Kotetsu is alive after all, he was believed dead as nobody took his pulse and Saito couldn't take his vital signs because his suit was destroyed but he successfully shut down the remainig androids fighting the other heroes, now we have an idea about what happened in their battle with H-01 previously... as expected Maverick got what he deserved, Agnes broadcasted the truth about him, then erased his own memories to not confess about Ouroboros and the best part, Lunatic killed him in his way to prison xD
nice final episode, not going to rate this series yet as most likely there will be a second season and I'm sure it'll do better than Heroman if Marvel dares to continue it telling by its cliffhanger |

Sep 11 2011 12:25 AM hmm talking about somewhat unpredictable, Tiger sacrificed himself holding H-01 to let Barnaby shoot it with its own gun thinking he could dodge the beam but didn't make it in time, thus Bunny realizes his power declining secret... good thing Kaede escapes and defeats the mad scientist saving the other heroes again, this time thanks to the powers of Blue Rose, the last one who touched her now I understand why Lunatic didn't interfere after the flashback when H-01 shoot his shoulder and wasn't in condition to fight but I think he'll go anyway to kill Maverick... haha funny last words "Hey, you have pretty long eyelashes", well I want to believe Tiger is still alive if not somehow her daughter may revive him with her NEXT power, Kotetsu doesn't deserve to die |
