Jul 2 2011 02:29 PM The series of Hen Zemi....I wouldn't say completely different from the OADs since the OADs fall in between episodes of the series.
Of course, this series is based on perversion and fetishes from beginning to end, episode by episode. That wasn't the issue with this series. In fact, the biggest issue with this series was its lack of humor, particular in relation to the OAD. While some parts were certainly out of the world, surprisingly a larger chunk is stuff you could find in your average harem or ecchi show or better yet a show like B Gata H Kei.
Animation is rather poor coming from XEBEC. Same quality as the OAD but one can easily notice the overtime deterioration of the art and animation quality as the series went on. It's even more noticeable when you compare and contrast the OP and ED themes to the episode itself.
Music? Really didn't care for it. The lyrics were funny, but that was about it. Instrumentals were fairly poor and dull. Seiyuus cast were really bland for this show.
Character? Not really anyone received development except Anna, whose back story was actually rather interesting, probably the best part of the series. The other characters were flat overall, especially with Matsutaka only growing a little bit by the end of the series. Learning more about Gregory Makiko would have been interesting since she's already mysterious as is. Opening her up would have probably been a cool dive.
Enjoyment? Almost none. Like I said, the reason why I didn't like this show was not because of the content itself but rather the lack of substance.
Overall, Hen Zemi was a poor follow up to its OAD releases. It had a few ups, but mostly downs overall. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and definitely not your average perversion joe unless they can really stomach some sick jokes at times.
