Jan 9 2012 06:25 PM A little late on the band wagon here but finally managed to finish Mayo Chiki!
Mayo Chiki! started off with some decent potential that added a twist to your stereotypical high school romantic comedy harem title. That twist is the main heroine must not only hide her gender but is also therefore a reverse trap. In addition, the male protagonist also has gynophobia. Story wise, the show seemed to have advanced quite a bit, in fact getting further than what most titles of the same genre do nowadays. The fact that we got a kiss scene along with a variety of mutual love moments between Jirou and Subaru is quite the development in 12 episodes. Furthermore, as far as I'm concerned, episode 13 doesn't exist.
Animation wise is okay for feel. I saw better quality in Yosuga no Sora last year. Art also felt cheap for the most part. Probably not the best aspect of the show overall, but I really wasn't expecting much from this show to begin with anyways.
Music was rather decent for this show. OP/ED were also decent and seiyuus cast for this show
Enjoyment? Fair overall. Not something I particularly looked forward to every week, but certainly one of the better summer titles and it's a shame I put off the "last" episode until now since episode 12 was definitely good.
Overall, The show started off with potential, flat lined a little bit and then managed to at least provide a meaningful ending. Whether or not the series will get a sequel remains to be seen but I'm pretty happy with the progress made in the story as well as the development of the characters given the short time.
Preliminary Score: 7/10
