May 13 2008 05:52 PM Eh, could I crawl onto the very back-end of the
Gallery Fake bandwagon here? I have to admit, I didn't even give this series a second look until people started posting again recently. And last week, browsing through the comments, I reasoned that any series that has people are willing to wait
3 years (!) for fansubs has
got to be worth checking out. And I'm pleased to say that I've
really been enjoying it-- enough, in fact, that I blew through all 17 fansubbed (so far) episodes in 3 days
(okay, 6 eps. a day may not be much for some of you but it's a lot for me), and now, like the rest of you, I get to wait. I'm just hoping it's not another 3 years!
A few reasons I'm digging it:
A.) It's nice to see a non-high-school real-world setting. That's not a dig against high-school-based series, but I just like to see something different from time-to-time.
B.) Fujita is a bit of a scoundrel. And I quote Han Solo (Star Wars: ESB): "You like me because I'm a scoundrel. There aren't enough scoundrels in your life." Exactly! To me, the term has affectionate connotations. Sometimes I just get tired of the stereotypically altruistic, wide-eyed anime hero(ine) who thinks in black & white, "truth & justice", etc. It's refreshing to see someone who operates somewhat in the grey, like most of us in real life do.
C.) You might actually learn something. About artists, art history, art technique, art restoration, art in general... For example, I had no idea how a fresco was made (I thought it was just painting on plaster). But because of ep 13, I now I have a better understanding (and I got to see Fujita's bare bum in the process! *lol* It's a win-win situation).Anyway
thanks, everyone, for turning me onto this one! And now I'm off to find that OP song.
