read the manga it goes all the way to the end of the storyline
because it definitely doesnt look like theres going to be any more animation as much as alot of people would be overjoyed to watch |

Mar 13 2008 04:22 PM I hate Open Ending, they keep you thinking about the serie all the time, you can't get it off your mind and go for the next serie.... |

ah, I couldn't remember if they did. Been a little while since I last saw it. I would love another OVA or 2, but at the same time I also kinda like the ambiguous ending that leaves things open for you to intepret how things went. But I can't ever turn down more Elfen Lied at the same time. |

Same title, Elfen Lied. And it was never licensed so if you can't find it you can just request it in the Manga Request Thread. It's finished in Japan at 12 voumes, but I think it's only translated to some point in volume 9.
And if you want info on the diclonius I just checked the wikipedia entry on it and it has some interesting stuff. Apparently the diclonius race was developed long ago, but through years and years of cross-breeding with normal humans the traits have of diclonius of disappeared and they can't even use their powers anymore. That's why the chief and his son had horns, they were part of that diclonius bloodline. Then all of a sudden there was a relatively huge surge of diclonius births, with Lucy appearing to be on of the first in that surge. (not much of a spoiler, just stuff about diclonius and where they came from, but I don't remember ever hearing it in the anime so just to be safe).

It seems that all the diclonius females could reproduce by spreading their genetic code, they just couldn't actually give birth themselves. And it wasn't Lucy who spread the virus to the Director, but just some other diclonius who got killed very shortly after. But all it really comes down to is they don't give you that kind of information from the anime so it's impossible to know. All we can really do is think up different possibilities that are based on little, unless they give this kind of info in the manga. |
