The "Mushi" is neither a plant nor an animal; also, it isn't a microbe or fungus. It is more like primitive life forms. Their figures and existence are very vague. We don't notice their existence until we meet Mushi and they'll show us mysterious phenomena. They do not exist to scare others; they just exist there as they are.

This anime is one-shot stories of Ginko, the Mushishi, who knows about Mushi and mediate human being and Mushi. During his journey, he meet various people and Mushi.

Hey, so the live action movie is out there!
I've taken a little peek already, but I didn't really like the Chinese subs because I can't really read it that well...
Awww but it looks so damn awesome though ^^ it's like they put the whole series in one liveaction, but I've seen some parts that aren't in the anime though... I think it's been a while...
ah but Ginko looks kewl XD Does anyone know about this being subbed in english?

This has to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful anime I have ever seen. The art work is lovely and the music is superb. Mushishi is a fantasy anime in a quasi-historical setting which has a beautiful zen-like quality. While the main character, Ginko, is present throughout, each episode is relatively independent. It explores humanities frailties and the capacity everyone posses for change whatever path they may choose. The music perfectly matches the beautiful scenery and other worldly atmosphere.

Is there any further news available about the movie? I can't say that I agree with the choice of the actor who was cast as Ginko.

Episodes... inching... along....!

I keep trying to get some of my friends to watch this amazing anime... but I guess the era of action remains strong. This is really more of a "storytelling" genre. Sometimes I feel a bit like a kid sitting at some grandpap's feet, quietly listening to each tale unravel.

Ah! I remember what it reminds me of now... "Kino's Journey"! It's got that same lazy, episodic-but-not feel to it... with similar thoughtful impact in each episode... and Ginko's got that quiet, observing personality with SO much subtlety to him!

And what's this about a movie?

I think Ginko took what he wanted from this mushi and I mean the info. That`s his priority, to know the behaviour of them and to know how to prevent them from harming the people. the mushi from this episode was rather beneficial to those people and he said it at the end even if it almost cost his life.

While watching the episode I was wondering how the movie is going to be and how well is Odagiri going to impersonate Ginko`s character. I like him as an actor and he is quite handsome but his acting tends to getting to extrems...http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j201/ploumid/001416.jpg (user posted image)

Well, he is cool like that too, when others die, so I don't think he could have think of something else than: oh shit does this mean I'm going to start over again
But he still hasn't figured out the whole story behind this mushi right??
