UnholyPiccolo, I would highly recommend that you read the manga. It takes it to the next level. Things start going crazy after that point, and the manga recently finished back in April. I won't spoil it, but it ends on a downer slightly, so you better prepare your tissue box.

Well, it's been some 8 months since this thread was last updated, I got into kekkaishi WAY late, I didn't even start watching it till this year, but I just finished it. Dubbed, it made to episode 52.. I don't know much about raw or the manga.. but I agree with most of the people here, they just kinda left it up in the air.. Inuyasha did the same thing, but they drug that show out SO much, and had WAY too many fillers.. I haven't seen anything "official" saying the show is canceled or finished, so I'll stay optimistic.. But the one thing that I remember is Yoshi kept mentioning his ONE true goal.. to seal karasumori.. then on the last episode, the narrator just says that as long as ayakashi exist, they will defend the land?.. I don't think they'll end it that way.. I hope..

Or, maybe this is just the ramblings of an old anime fan.. who's tired of watching all his shows end and be replaced by crap.. Who knows??

True... and I remember there was talk of how the slots were moved on the anime, from favorable to less favorable and how some sponsors left it because of popularity issues...
The presence of a game kinda vexed me since IIRC it came out after the timeshift and sponsor issue. Then again, it might have been more costly had they simply abandoned a near-finished game -__-;
still wish it was available in the states. Looked like a good wii game

My 2 cents as well...

I watched the last season (and kept the avi versions for posterity) which reached 50 episodes and with the last episode of the anime which I believe reached the pre 150 edition of the manga, there is room for a 2nd season.

HOWEVER, just like Claymore which I believe could have another 24-26 season episode, will the studio be interested in another run? It doesn't matter if the manga is finished or not. What matters is that the storyline of the manga (that translated into the 50 episode season of the anime) has been done away with AND the current arc of the manga (currently at manga edition 230) has enough room for a 26 episode anime run.

It always comes down if the studio is interested in picking it up.

I would think the reason that there is no Season 2 planned yet, is because the manga has not finished yet. Yellow Tanabe still has quite a way to go to finish up the story. I predict that the manga will finish up sometime in late 2010. Then after that, there would have to be a planning stage, along with budget acquisition, and finally securing an animation studio or two for the show.

If the anime does get one more season, here's to hoping that the same animation studio is used.

Great series... pity they had to end it early. I looked back in the manga a bit and it seemed the anime was close to the manga story which is nice except in kokoburou(sp?) Tokine wasn't supposed to be there she was Helping her mother hold the portal open so they could infiltrate the area and allow them to get out .

I hope they do eventually animate some more of the story there is a good amount out in manga.... guess its better to stop than have so many filler episodes like some anime... lol

I'm going to add my two cents to this debate as well.

As far as the manga goes, currently Yellow Tanabe is up to chapter 219 in raw form, with chapter 220 out sometime later this week. My best guess is that no more Kekkaishi anime will be produced till the manga finishes probably later this year, or in the next 1-2 years.

By the time the manga finishes, I'm sure there will be enough material to produce another 52+ episodes. So let us keep our hopes up, and be patient with Ms. Tanabe.

@ bone_of_swords - As far as the demon-fox and Byaku, they both perish at the point when the dimension collapses. If you have read the manga, you find out they were rather small fry when you compare them to the villains that come later on.
