Apr 6 2008 11:52 AM I can really see where people would figure Kazumi to be an annoying distraction from the standpoint she was always "in the way." What really disappointed me though was just how cold Yuji was towards her, even after she conveyed her feelings towards him in season 1. He almost acted like it was just natural for her to be waiting in his shadow for him to tell her to leap when he said so. At least that's the impression I got. In that respect, Ike watching all of this from the sideilne often reminded me of how I've seen stuff happen like that in real life. TBH, Yuji was very ungrateful towards her. She was the ideal girl friend in many aspects. She was the typical, normal, perfectionist that most guys would go goo~goo about. To me, it was funny watching Shana try to be more "girlish" secretly since that it is her weak point. Makes me wonder though, if he did in fact choose her, would their relationship be any different then it is now? It takes an earth shattering event or one of them on the brink of death for her to say what she feels in her heart.

Though I really felt the love triangle was overly dragged out, she did have every right to keep sticking herself in there; she also grew as a girl (and/or woman) and was able to gain the courage to at least try and stand by the person she cared about. I'm very interested to see (if they do another season) whether or not she will have a significant role in the future.
Reason being, I half expected her to use the necklace and bringing Pheles into the picture. My reasoning behind it, I had a feeling that perhaps, just perhaps her motives behind giving her that necklace to call upon her would only end her life as a human mortal. And by taking her life essence, she would then turn Kazumi into a Mystes similar to what Yuji is while he's carrying Reiji Maigo. By doing that, she would then be able to live loving through Kazumi and still be with Johan at the same time. (in some form at least) I don't have any real basis to plant this upon, just idle speculation, however if you figure she viewed Kazumi's love towards Yuji important enough to trust her to use wise judgment and call upon her when Yuji needed help the most, there must be something more than "if you use this you'll die, and yet you'll also save him." I don't believe she would honestly do that if she looked at Yuji and Kazumi the same way she viewed Johan and herself.
Again, idle speculation since the "original" intent of that necklace never played out the way it was intended to. It still bugs me how Johan was actually able to speak though it.
