A fairy doctor by the name of Lydia meets a beautiful man while on a ship headed for London. She is going to see her father and with her comes Nico, her also fairy friend.
The beautiful man introduces himself as Edgar Ashenbert, the head of the legendary Earl Blue Knight; or Earl of Ibrasel.
Edgar asks Lydia for her help in obtaining the Sword of Mellow, passed down from generation to generation in the family of Earl Blue Knight.
At first, it all sounds suspicious to Lydia; Edgar looks like a burglar whom people have been talking about recently, and there is also his faithful follower, Raven, who says he can kill others for Edgar. However, because of Edgar’s elegant act, gullible, innocent Lydia thinks he is noble and believes his story. Furthermore, because of Edgar’s constant flirting, Lydia gets nervous, although she doesn’t think he is serious. In the end, she accepts his request, unaware she was getting herself involved in a terrible fight over the sword.
Mar 27 2009 11:41 PM i just finish watching it yesterday...so cute..yes its quite refreshing and pure innocence...looking forward to season two... sadly animes come later in my country so i'm a bit late..hope the author hears the nice comments bout this anime. sexy in a very decent way....just can't figure if edward is good or bad or just romntic and prince charming.
this is what an anime looks like without a filler. from start to finish it never strayed from the main plot.
its a pretty solid anime like bounen x xamdou. i hope they do a second season. edgar and lydia never k-k-k-kiss in the lips. i was looking forward to the last episode with them kissing.
very decent anime. raven sure is very cool. and i feel bad for kelpie with his one-sided love, but he sure is strong. the opening song kinda grew on me.
this anime was kinda wierd... after the credits, the story still continues for a few minutes... and the opening sequence always starts late. but atleast they dont recycle the first few scenes from the previous episodes to the current episode like other animes...
overall its a nice refreshing anime.
hopefully ill see you in the next season my fariy~
Jan 29 2009 07:42 AM Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if they might do another season? I was hoping that they might do, coz I wanna see how Lydia and Edgar get on.
Jan 20 2009 08:42 PM ): Does anyone know where I can get the light novel in Canada? Or like order it from somewhere? D: I really want to read it after finishing the anime. Truly, truly!!! Hope they have a second season coming out. *please be popular in Japan, please be popular in Japan.* XD only more like DX
Jan 6 2009 01:43 AM i finished the series yesterday, i just didnt feel like posting bout it
You cant judge how popular an anime is based on our opinion, cause our opinion doesnt really matter, how popular in japan it is will determine if season 2 is created or not.
All in all it was a pretty good run. Tho ill probally never re-watch this anime, it was still at the least worth my time.
Jan 6 2009 12:55 AM So I guess I'm the first to finish this series?
The final episode was awfully awkward, but I don't like the fact that Ulysses didn't die because it felt the series was left inconclusive. The only thing that I thought was worthwhile and interesting was the Banshee's death. Ermine was a relatively surprising. Also, Lydia's willingness to help is also rather sudden and I don't like how she was constantly wishy-washy this episode...She isn't a tsundere so she shouldn't be that indecisive. Shy is one thing, but trying too hard to refuse Edgar was another especially when it's often when she does have feelings for him
They never did reveal the Prince so it leaves it open for a potential sequel, but considering how unpopular this series was, I don't necessarily see another franchise for this series in the near future, but the producers could always prove me wrong.
All in all, the series was not interesting or focused until really the final episode. The whole series felt more like a setup and that the real plot was only beginning with the conflict between Edgar/Earl vs. the Prince, who we never got to see. There's a novel and a manga to this, so I assume it will continue there since I don't expect any further series or adaptations due to the lack of interest in this show. The only thing that really drove me to watch this was Nana Mizuki as Lydia since she continues to be a priceless voice actor as well as the many interesting and funny moments with Nico, the cat. The concept of fairies was not very interesting since it was really hard to be in Edgar's position of not being able to see fairies besides being the Earl, which is where the plot really focuses on. It seemed more like a story of who is really the Earl rather than about fairies, so it would have been nice if they had made it at least a few more times of the fairies were not actually visible like the two "loli" fairies delivering the ring. They had to take on physical human forms to be visible, which made it a bit more realistic from Edgar's perception. All in all, the series wasn't terrible, nor was it anywhere near fantastic. It had a nice concept, but may have been better as a 24-26 episode series rather than 12. 5/10
wait, so was episode 11 the last one? or was that saying that the next one is the last one. because that would be a pretty lame end to just stop now
The next one is the last one. I think that airs tomorrow/today in Japan.
Nana Mizuki voice cast as Lydia still amazes me....probably a continuing effect from Allison and Lillia in a very similar scenario. XD There's still a decent amount of stuff to cover so I'm curious as to how things will play out. So far this series has not over-impressed me in any way nor has anything really jumped out at me. It's pretty average so far, so I guess the final judgment will be made when the subs come out. m.3.3.w says delays to come due to holidays so I guess we may not actually see the episode until near New Years or even after.
Dec 23 2008 08:44 PM Just finished watching episode 11 and feeling so sad that this awesome anime must come to an end,I wanna see more of Edgard and Lydia !!I've heared that the original light novel from where the anime was adapted were much darker and better than the anime itself (15 volumes so far and I do guess they must span about 50 episodes at least right?).Hope somone make on a translation for us or much better, teach me japanese reading in one hour (uhh I mean 10 year ).
Dec 6 2008 01:34 PM If my celtic folklore is correctly, normally a banshee is only seen by the person who is about to die. So maybe it's Paul who might be going to die after all he can't see other fairies but saw the banshee? Looks like there'll be some interesting conflicts after this episode with Raven maybe facing off against Ermine or our little fairy doctor finally deciding to seriously consider being and/or marrying the Earl
Dec 6 2008 11:57 AM hey, if the banshee forsees death in the blue earl's family, and since Edgar isnt really related to the blue earl, then wouldnt that mean the guy who IS related to the blue earl is the one that is accually going to die?
Kinda weird for a human to turn into a selkie. Ushally its a selkie that turns into a human. I wish i could change into a spectral wolf...i never suspected that kid was that wolf, haha.
