Great analysis, Kit. It seemed like they were writing the series on the fly and it makes me wonder if they had an ending planned out before they started. It had so much going for it in terms of characters, animation and music, but just failed to pull it to pull it all together cohesively. For me, when the moon cannon missed it's target, it kind of became a metaphor for the story going off course. It still had enough good moments through the end to not make it a total failure of a show, so in the end I rate it 8/10.

This series had great potential and I really disliked how the last few episodes were. Open-ended love triangle like Macross Frontier, rushed-like ending, plot going through the roof with many holes, etc... It just seemed that ever since the staff changed back around half way, things went down hill.

The series overall had its up and downs. Great on character development, music, animation, etc... but terrible with plot direction. The changes in pace were also sudden for the most part and felt rather awkward watching Dan and co. be ridiculous one episode and completely serious the next. It was an enjoyable series and will give this a 9/10 for originality. We do need more original series like this rather than game/visual novel/manga/light novel adapted stuff and if anything, Shoji Kawamori seems to always do well in that aspect.

On a side, note, anyone want to get me a birthday present? tongue.gif

The end was pretty bad and way too rushed.

Slash sacrificing himself was acted out lousy (like Faldios death in Valkyria Chronicles) and the whole sacrificing thing became a joke seeing that Slash survived it.

So Dan ends up with Iceman rather than Rouge? What a bad joke is this? Now all the development between Rouge and Dan are wasted.

In the end the anime wasnt that bad and with a good ending it wouldve been a great anime, despite beeing totally unlogical.
I mean saving the world by basketball is silly, but it was fun.

So....Thora has Basquash Blu-Ray episodes 1-3 on their irc channel....It currently comes out to be about 5.5 gb....Note that the Blu-Ray versions have been modified and remastered from the TV versions. Each episode currently ranges between 1.5gb to 2gb...

Not really worth it in my eyes. Though I've become a bit disappointed with this series in the later half. I guess I liked the series more when it was more of an over-the-top sports show as opposed to the legend who can save the world.

Damn what an ep. The best so far, the second half was just pure awesome. And what a shock at the end.

I think there isnt that much meaning behind Yan shooting Dan, its just something like "he has done his job but because hes a criminal he gets what he deserves". I think Yan wants to do the same as John and Slash, but in a different and more cruel way.

I wonder what will happen now.

So I couldn't help myself and watched the raw for 22.. all I have to say is wow. Although Rouge quickly reverted, the ending was amazing since it closed off one arc, and with 4 episodes left, it seems like a safe amount of room to close off the rest of the story. Really can't wait to see 23 now.

Exactly the same here, I loved episode 22! The evil schemes of Yan Harris are still unknown, him and the freaky eyed acquaintance of the old man obviously want to use the Legend's power for some stones but what for?
There was some romance in ep 22 so im satisfied with that! laugh.gif

Nice character development here for Dan and Flora. It was good to see Flora finally revealing who she is and, of course, Dan doesnt give about it ^^

I still wonder why Yan does all this. Ok to prevent the Moon and Earthdash to collide, but why Rouge? He could simply go along with James and support Dan. He must have a much higher goal than only saving the two worlds.
