Definitely a recommended series for people looking to try something new. 8/10

I agree wholeheartedly! You just need to spend the time to tough out the whole thing (ep.1-26)... And that's coming from a Gundam fan tongue.gif I have to say, I enjoy this more than 00/Macross F tongue.gif What really shine for this series is the very good start (first 3 ep.) and a pretty strong finish. The whole Asura Cryin' system has a lot of potential as well. In fact, this is the more enjoyable mecha anime since Code Geass.

Considering the novels ended on November 19, 2009, it's no surprise to see the final episode a bit rushed. The animation was also a bit off, but the finale wasn't all that bad. It wasn't something grand or epic like what we saw a few episodes back, but definitely more along the lines of what I expected rather than hoped.
Rating the second series individually:
Asura Cryin' 2's plot completely takes the plot from season 1 to a whole new level, to the extent that it could be rather confusing if details are not paid attention to. There's a lot of terminology and requires completion of watching the first season to comprehend anything going on in the second season. The show starts out really slow with fillers here and there, and that was the primary turn off of the second season that drove many people away, especially those who were already sorely disappointed with the first season. Not knowing that the novels would end while the show was airing gave the show lesser sympathy for the fact that it would drag a little bit at times to prevent catching up with the novels too fast as it seems.
Art and animation was rather inconsistent. They were solid for the really good episodes, but very poor for decent/mediocre/bad episodes unfortunately. Although it's Seven Arcs, they can definitely do better than that, especially after their animation for White Album and Nanoha.
Music was a great aspect of this show and was sorely disappointed when they chose to play Spiral instead of Alternative in the final episode. Nevertheless, that is not really a factor that should degrade the series. Overall, the musical score was solid throughout the series. angela's mixture of songs were a huge plus for this series and its great to see her back in full swing like she was in 2004.
Character development was another great aspect of this show. We, the audience, were introduced to many new characters in the show, all of which got decent to solid development on who they were and why were they important regardless of how minor of a character they were. If there was one thing that bothered me, it would be Tomoharu's demon powers considering it essentially showed up once and never came back. That aside, there was really not much left to complain. It's a shame that Ania never stayed in her older demon form though sad.gif
Enjoyment: Season 2 was an absolute blast for the most part. It started out sluggish after leaving off with a relative cliffhanger from season 1 and dwelled for about 2-3 episodes. After that, things kept happening one after another with good cliffhangers and plots hinted but unexplained. Around the middle of the series was where everything went from sluggish to epic. Things one would never expect to happen in this series occurred and made it worth watching. Although a bit late to have occurred if judging the series as a whole, episode 7 (20) of the series was something that was needed long ago...or at least something of that caliber. Things stayed steady for a while and then we came to a satisfactory conclusion, so it wasn't all bad.

Overall, Asura Cryin' is severely underrated. People never gave it enough time most likely due to the typical high school ecchi comedy factor along with mechs and ghosts, which are usually turn offs for most people in this age when it doesn't involve gundam. Obviously there is no season 3 given how the series ended and that the novels have ended as well. It definitely was one of the better gems of 2009 and I'm glad I saw it through to the end. Definitely a recommended series for people looking to try something new. 8/10

Still waiting for the last episode from Chihiro so I haven't read any posts in this thread to avoid potential spoilers. As for 24 and 25, both were good. Lots of final detail explanations before the final battle. Based on a couple summaries I've read regarding the novels, it seems that 26 will most likely cliff hang and from the preview, it looks like the series will do just that. I just hope the cliffhanger is not terrible such that they are able to properly continue it in the future should they choose to do additional OVAs or another season. However, should they choose to conclude it, I'm hoping a deus ex machina can be avoided since this could very well potentially pull this at this point. A few things were rushed in the past two episodes, but all in all I liked how they kept things overall at a relatively constant and steady pace. Here's to hoping a good ending from Asura Cryin' since I have very high hopes at this point for it being one of the better series of 2009.

I honestly hate this 1st season 2nd season stuff.  I miss when they just made 26 ep animes.  I really hope this split season crap is just a phase.  I understand the point of it, but this series is the perfect example of why:  It couldn't properly be split into two seasons.  I say just judge the whole thing together.  Some series fit better into 13 eps, some not so much.

There are a few reasons why they would split a 26 episode season into two 13 episode season. The obvious one would be the budget which many people stated on how things dropped down after the first few episodes. If the series runs out of money then it's kind of hard to do a 26 episode series if they go over budget. The other reason would be content material. This can play a major role with series basied off of ongoing manga. I mean most people now would rather have the series stave off and wait for the manga to progress further before continuing.

Besides there's nothing wrong with it being 13 episode per season. I mean each season had its meaning. The first season was to explain how the Asura Machinas worked and what they are used for, and the Akumas(demons) that contract with a human.

The second season kind of dives between the differences of the two worlds and even passes between the 2nd and 1st world as well.

I just finished Season 2 and I did it all in one go. biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I absolutely loved the ending and I was glad the ones I thought were dead for sure in episode 07 especially glad that "Shuri-chan" is still alive. biggrin.gif I kinda noticed the twist before it presented itself when you find out about Tokiya and Tooru......I like the fact that Tooru was able to live and not just disappear. rolleyes.gif

When I first read the WIKI article back when I was watching Season 1........I was really really confused because I read things like Tooru getting killed by Tokiya and stuff....at the time I didn't understand the whole 1st and 2nd world. biggrin.gif

I love it.....I love it......I JUST LOVE THE UBER-HAPPY ending especially with all the bittersweet and heart-wrenching moments this anime had.......I LOVE IT!! biggrin.gif

The 2nd season was better than the 1st season because it gave us answers and I'm going to give this a 9.5/10 just like Killer_Ossi. tongue.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

EDIT:

It seems to me that the light novel series is quite different to the anime. How true is this ? rolleyes.gif

Well now, it's been a great ride and I enjoyed it, there has been up and downs but overall it's been great.

I think the best one is how Nia reacted to Tomo grabbing her... assets and then he suffered the worst luck for the rest of the morning... going up against Aki's stray animals (why in hells name is a horse there as well!!!) and then getting a good telling off from Aki and Toru wit their swords... he didn't seem to have suffered any bruises like he did when he was the in baths with Toru...

Anyway I have to agree he's in for a life, and what Misao said about the decision not been so hard... then to see Misao forgetting what she is and having Kande helping her in the end, ah well I'll give it a 9/10 as well

So the pendant didnt help Tomo to win like I thought. But I prefer that way, Deus ex machinas arent really a good way to end things ^^ But if all things from the first world are vanishing doesnt that mean the pendant will vanish too? Not that I have a problem with that mistake ^^

The last fight was pretty good even though if reminded me of Code Geass battles with the speed Hagane and Kurogane fought each other.
Its not that incomprehensible that Tomo forgave Toru and Tokiya because if you look back, nobody was really hurt or even died throught the things these two did. The only thing that happened is that Shuri vanished as a Burial Doll.

Tomo will have an hard live now. I dont think he can even imagine how pissed off Nia will be if he annoys her XD

The only bad point is that there was no Aki again. I cant say that often enough ^^

I hope they will add a few things they left out, like the Swordtraining Tomo gets from first world Toru to fight second world Toru. Because there he learns the two-sword fighting style from Aki he used against Tokiya. At least thats what Wikipedia says tongue.gif

Overall, considering both seasons, it gets a 9,5/10 from me. Really a great anime.

Tokyia is able to control the other 3 asura machinas because of Hagane's power... if you go back a few episodes to First Stage World's Tomo's explanation on how he revived 2nd Stage World Tomo.

My 2 cents on the kiss: its just a fail and over late attempt to paint Nia as a Tsundere lover for Tomo... but as my earlier post already stated, the score is already annouced and settled... Tomo has already chosen Kanade. Why bother?
