Nov 23 2009 10:42 PM It was interesting up until episode 6, then it started becoming really political and the slow-pace is like a year-long constipation that just won't budge. Episode 7 and 8 were the factoring episodes, then I stopped watching. I don't mind slow-paced anime, but this was really stretching it. Indeed, the interaction between Horo and Lawrence is nice to watch, but the rest of the plot became meh. I rather drink cold bitter herbal tea and eat a page of my local newspaper, than to watch the rest of the series. No, I'm not disappointed, but it no longer interests me as S&W once did. S&W series 1: 7.5/10 S&W series 2: 5.5/10 *Entertainment value. |

Sep 25 2009 03:00 PM What I liked best about this anime (both seasons) is the music and the relatively slow pace -- it's a character drama primarily. The character animation started to deteriorate (became over-simplified) later in the second season -- Horo looks like a round-faced anime girl in the last episode, not the sage wolf Horo in human form. Look at the last episode of the first season and they're both drawn as much more compelling characters. (Season two was drawn by a different studio.) The character drawing in the first season and the music really hooked me. The verbal wordplay between Lawrence and Horo in the later episodes of this season were also really enjoyable. The music really is sublime and contributes greatly to the mood and emotion -- it's the best I've heard in an anime. (I'm also enjoying Bakemonogatari this season, where the music also contributes a lot. And, for what it's worth, Koi Kaze -- disturbing story -- has music every bit as good as Spice and Wolf.) Season three please! |

Sep 24 2009 02:53 PM I very much liked this anime. But the ending was disappointing. I do hope they will confront Abe in the third season and whip her butt. After all she screwed them both, she robed Lawrence and didnt even care what happens to Horo. Probably thinking, that if she had to go through that, others can too. |

| QUOTE (Arbiter Libera @ Sep 24 2009, 11:34 AM) | | Anyway, looking forward to season 3, for sure. Really eager to see what happened to Horo's home village, if it's even real at al. |
My whole reason for having watched season two in the first place, was because I wanted the so-called relationship to get beyond the silly "chitchat" and her obvious failed ploys at flirting. I was gagging it was so silly. And Lawrence did not help matters either, by giving her these sometimes, stupid looks at her sometimes, silly questions. I was hoping we could get over all the boring agriculture and businessmen "ancient merchant" lessons, and get to her homeland and see what all the mystery was...instead, I was put through the wringer of a tedious anime...no one forced me, I did so by choice, in the hopes of being rewarded...no such thing, as I was instead, very disappointed. |

Sep 24 2009 02:40 PM Im a bit disappointed with that end. Sure he finally said that he loves her and all, but for me this was all way too rushed with Abe. I really want to know what happened to Abe, wouldnt have thought that she would try to attack Lawrence. And Im disappointed that we never knew the name of the Barmaid -.- Hopefully there will be a third second, because I really liked that Season. |

Sep 24 2009 02:34 PM I wouldn't say it was boring, it's just that... well, so very FEW things actually happened during these 12 episodes (what, the whole thing with Amarti and this salt conspiracy with Abe) because the emphasis was placed a bit too much on the relationship between Horor and Lawrence (and if you don't mind me, in most cases this just comes down to revealing what most of us already know or at least suspect, given their characters). And yeah, seems like I at least partially got the whole salt smuggling thing right. Anyway, looking forward to season 3, for sure. Really eager to see what happened to Horo's home village, if it's even real at al. |

Sep 24 2009 02:30 PM Everyone so far, is hoping for another season? Hell, I hope not, as I found this series boring and tedious, and barely and I mean barely, could get through it. But as we are all entitled to our opinions, well, I am glad it is over and if season three does roll around, well, so be it as I ain't watchin. If Miss Prissy, Horo-chan, has not made up her mind by now and is still playing mind games with Lawrence-san, I say it is high time he "high tailed" it outta her life. But being the gentleman that he is, who knows? |

Sep 24 2009 12:42 PM Well from what the sub group did with the credits they are kind of hoping for that kind of outcome here. In any case it was kind of interesting that Lawrence decided to do whatever it took to get Horo back, even if it meant selling the Inn to the trading company. Also, it seems that he found out about Abe's intentions a little too late as well, but hopefully we'll get to see a further outcome next season. |
