Genre: Love-Romance
Year: 2009
Studio: Production I.G.

Kimi ni Todoke is about a girl named Kuronuma Sawako. She is nicknamed Sadako (from the ring) because many people see her as strange and often mistake her for a ghost. A boy called Kazehaya kun becomes her friend and, to her, is "100% refreshness."
Kuronuma Sawako is nicknamed Sadako due to her resemblance to the girl from the Japanese horror movies "The Ring". Shunned by her classmates, her life starts to change as she befriends Shōta Kazehaya, a very popular boy in her class.
Kuronuma Sawako’s one wish in life is to make friends. That’s a difficult proposition when everyone who meets her cowers in terror. She admires her classmate, Kazehaya-kun, a popular, easygoing and 100% refreshing guy who is nice with everyone, even with her.

actually ann had something about a film
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-...promos-streamed
so i imagine that film would review and maybe finish what the tv part didnt
either way its still a pretty good cute story
im up to date with chapter 45 though

I would say the film will probably be more of an original adaptation like most live action movies and series are. I doubt that they would just end it at the same place since I felt like we were definitely left hanging at the end of the series and that I.G. potentially has no intention of creating a sequel, like they do with most series.

since ive been keeping up to date with the manga as its scanlated i could easily imagine another season judging by how the manga is going atm if they make another season it would have a concrete ending for sure cause in the manga shota and sawako are already a couple they haven't kissed yet as sawako hasnt even had the though cross her mind yet but i can tell its going toward the concrete end
even if they dont make a second season you can just go and start reading the manga where the anime ended and not miss anything think it was around chapter 27ish
i still love this series though as im a sucker for this stuff >.<

I know they are together already in the manga and the last chapter I read was between her and kurumi. The last I read from the manga was chapter 42 which she wanted to talk to kurumi about the rumours but kurumi was talking to those class A girls. I think sawako heard her and it only showed her picture and kurumi. I'm going to look for the rest of the manga online or the one in manga reader. I seriously want to know what happened next. About the anime I haven't watched it yet. Just done downloading it though. Going to watch it after I eat. I f it ends at the part where they haven't confess with each other then I'm pretty sure they will have another season. That's what I think though I hope they will have another season biggrin.gif

I really enjoyed this anime. It's left open so I am hoping that we will get another season, since there is so much more that needs to be told.

Story wise was excellent except, I felt that some episodes were too dragged out. I liked the slow plot of the series. I think it added a mature feel to it, as well as allowing me to really understand the characters and their feelings. If that is one thing this anime did real well was bring out each characters emotions and actions brilliantly.

Animation was very nice; in the beginning, I was a little wary of the character design but really enjoyed it as the story progressed. I don't know if it was just me but I felt Sawako become more beautiful as each episode passed.

I guess my biggest complaint is the ending, only if they do not have a OVA or second season. With a continuation the ending was a great stopping point. If this is the actual end of the series then I really really would like to have seen them kiss at the end. That would have really tied up the entire series and all the angst that was pent up.

So overall for a love/drama 8.5/10 which can go higher depending if the series continues or not.

What another inconclusive ending. Although there were no hopes of this showing coming near a proper conclusion, at least hint at a potential second season.
From the way it ended, the chances of a second season look grim or at least not for a long while. Given how much material they had to animate, I'm surprised that the pacing was absurdly slow, especially the last three episodes where it felt like two chapters of the manga covered in the span of three episodes.

The show has a marvelous plot, but its pacing execution was incredibly poor that I really was bored to death at points waiting for something interesting to happen in the latter half of the series. Plot wise the second half was good but abundance of content was very dull. I mean, if they wanted to do this properly and avoid running into a new arc, they probably should have slowed down the pace of the first half and sped up the second half a bit to at least keep people entertained.

Animation is done by I.G. No real complaints here since it had a similar feel to many of their other shows including Kemono no Souja Erin, FLCL, and Higashi no Eden (of course this animation quality is superior to all listed). Art wise, it felt like Honey and Clover style and I'm surprised that none of the staff was doing this show despite the large similarities.

The music score is fantastic for this show. Although I was never a big fan of the OP and that the ED was only decent, the bgm is absolutely amazing. Each scene almost always had the appropriate perfect score to go with it.

Character development was more or less solid for this series. Although we never got much about Kazehaya or Kurumi's past in depth, everyone else was pretty solid, especially Sawako, Ryu, Ayane, and Chizu. Really no complaints there. The blame really just falls on the pacing of the story in this department.

Enjoyment? As I said, this show started out really good. Strong conflicts rose and were resolved in very meaningful manners. However, as the series progressed beyond its halfway mark, the show began to slowly deteriorate in its enjoyment factor. Episodes began to become less interesting to watch as the story progressed even slower and conflicts were no longer as interesting as they were in the beginning of the series to the extent that they never got to the more interesting/"mysterious" characters like Kazehaya, whom we know almost nothing about.

Overall, the show has a lot of potential, but the closure to the series is absolutely what killed it for me. I.G. usually doesn't make a second season of series that they're the main animation production crew of. If they do, it probably won't be for another few years before it's announced. In other words, don't get hopes high for a second season, especially since how I.G. closed the series, meaning it's time to start picking up the manga if you want to continue. 8/10 This could have deserved a potential 9/10 if that ending just wasn't awful, but now it's sitting at a borderline 8. Usually series I give above 8 means that they would have a relatively high rewatch value, but this one really is close to being cut from that list entirely.

I believe the last episode was done in such a way that it felt it had a slower pace and contained more extended scenes than how the rest of the series was could be because Production I.G wanted to end season 1 like this and then approach a possible season 2 with the class entering their 2nd year. I'm hoping thats the case but like others I was left wanting more......the series ended about volume 7 I think. wink.gif

There are currently about 10 volumes released back in Japan and season 2 can be approached in 2 ways, 1 by doing a 12-13 episode series that covers the rest of the current volumes and a little bit more or wait till there's about 14 to 15 volumes and doing another 24-25 episode series. If season 2 does come about, it will most likely be about 13 episodes long and covering all the current volumes and a little bit more and I think this will happen in like 1 or 2 years......a long wait but this is Production I.G, who have a huge list of their movies being released this year and next year.....about 9 movies and 2 OVA series.....I've got nothing on what their next TV series project will be though. wink.gif

I hope season 2 will be made and not forgotten with the upcoming live-action movie adaptation. rolleyes.gif

I'm giving this series a 9/10 because it was classic shoujo with heartwarming animation and music to top it off. biggrin.gif

It was a pretty good ending with every character in it.
That nothing happens between Sawako & Kazehaya was somehow clear so Im not surprised. But still I had hoped for maybe a confession or something.

Pin and Ayane make a really great couple, even if its only for funny scenes.

I really hope there will be a second seasen with actually something happening between Sawako & Kazehaya.

I give this anime a 9.5/10

Finished watching.... while it was a very good anime to watch, the last episode was a bit of a disappointment, nothing really happened. It felt like the streched episode 24 just a bit more to make another episode out of it.
Oh well, now all we need to do is to wait for season 2. I am sure there will be a second season.
