Category: TV
Genre: Action, Adventure, Ecchi, Magic, School Life
Year: 2010
Studio: Taki Corporation

Based on a manga series authored by Yoshino Hiroyuki and featuring art by Kenetsu Satou. The manga is serialised in the shounen manga magazine Champion Red.

The story takes place on the grounds of St. Mihailov Academy, a Japanese Eastern Orthodox school, and draws heavily on religious references from the aforementioned religion. Here it follows the trials and hardship of two of its students, Oribe Mafuyu and Tomo Yamanobe, until the encounter with a mysterious, silver-haired, Russian boy named Alexander, or Sasha for short. This pits them and the whole school in an all-out war between the Church itself and the so-called "Adepts", a sect of individuals wielding powers linked to the elements of chemistry.

I just couldn't understand why so many people didn't like this series. true they took a very taboo concept of breast feeding to an even unusual standard, i liked it for it's sheer uniqueness.

I liked the story of certain chosen people have the ability to control certain elements. true some parts were a bit bland but over all i like the show. 8/10 from me.

Tayloroids review sums it up almost how I would score it: http://myanimelist.net/anime/6500/Seikon_no_Qwaser/reviews

The only thing I would downgrade is the art/animation and sounds scores since animation, even from the blu-ray is pretty bad and the ending themes weren't that good. As for the story, I gave it a 5/10 instead of a 6/10 for the same reason: the second half of the series was simply garbage. The first half had something going for it.

Im not that much different, I too watch almost everyting in every season except the stuff I drop or Im completely uninterest. Only difference is that I drop stuff I dont like even if I saw almost the half season of it (like Michiko and Hatchin, dropped it after ep 10), but that is very rar that I drop something ^^

Only problem I have is that I dont really have time getting back watching old stuff since so many new things are coming out (not to forget PC- & PS3-Games, shitty work and stuff). Its already been a month since I started to rewatch Silent Möbius, but I think this week I can finally finish it ^^

@Kit: Im wondering more and more why youre wasting your time watching stuff you dont like oO Why dont you just drop it and watch something else?

That's because I'm a complete everything I start. If you haven't noticed yet, I watch essentially everything from each season. Anything I miss, I come back to it at a later time....in this summer alone, I've already gone back and completed Cross Game, Kuroshitsuji, Kaibutsu Oujo, Soul Eater, Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Kaiji, Black Lagoon (both seasons), and a number of others...currently working on Air Gear and Shugo Chara!

Basically, I make room for anime...and that's how I get stuff done. Also, given some of my standards, if I dropped stuff from the get go, I would have missed some shows that go from bad to good. Not to mention that given how many bad shows there have been in the last 3-4 seasons, I would really have nothing to watch then.

So its over. Been a long run with horrible versions since you either have to watch the censored version or the webrip which was just worse than anything I ever saw.

But except that I really liked and enjoyed that show. It was so ridicioulous, strange and out of the world, but that was what made the show great.

The plot was better than I expected and the characters were all interesting. And with Mafuyu they introduced one of the best female characters in anime up till now. Good thing that they made her brests shrink since she looks far better with it. Around the middle of the season her breasts were the best. Too bad she didnt kept the hairstyle she had before getting Tomo back.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see a second season. After all there are still Adepts living and the Gold Qwaser isnt completely defeat and the blonde guy working for him is still alive either.
Only question is, what the hell happened to Sasha at the end oO Did he turn into a girl again?

Only really bad thing in this anime is that they made Mafuyu fall in love with Sasha and other way round. There is only one scene in all animes Ive watched that I hated more than their kiss and that was the kiss Kallen gave Lelouch in Code Geass S2. Damn why couldnt they make Tomo and Sasha a couple, now I really wanna go there and make them break up or kill Sasha or whatever -.-

And only because of that fact I cant give this series more than 7/10.

Just watched the final 2 episodes...

This show....was very very bad in many different ways. Qwaser had an awkward concept coming in to the season and in the end it really didn't have that much of a key role in the main plot...the idea of Souma and breast-sucking...All in all it's a fanservice show from beginning to end. Not to mention that the final 3 minutes of the show made no sense.

Animation? Considering the TV airings were all censored in various ways, the animation was poor with the way they censored despite being unique and the lack of "convenient censoring. Even though the web-streamed director's cut uncensored version fixes these issues, it traded not just quality of video but also details in the background animation. The blu-rays don't seem to fix this as far as I've seen. For a show airing in HD, one would think this show would at least have some decent art and animation....If anything, breasts in this show were in HD and detailed like no other for some strange reason.

I really didn't like the cast for this show...everyone's voice were so high-pitched it hurt my ears constantly. Despite the strong cast lineup, the roles themselves were awful. The music...was actually very good...or at least both opening themes. The ending themes....not so much. It's such a shame that Faylan's and YUI's talents had to go to waste on such a poor show.

Character development? Well there certainly was a lot on Mafuyu, Tomo, and Sasha for being the main protagonists of the show, but one thing that bugged me was Mutsumi's and Taisuki's roles. They were emphasized a lot in the second opening theme, but really only played major roles for about 1 or 2 episodes and yet did not even play a single role in the "important moments" of the final few episodes. As far as I'm concerned, they were just there...and more or less a plot device for Sasha's past.

Enjoyment? None. Absolutely none. I disliked the show from beginning to end and came into this show with already low expectations.

The plot itself is all over the place, the character development feels lackluster for a relatively large cast, the animation was poor and the "sound: was bad. Like I said before, the only redeeming factors are the OP themes and the bgms. Everything else was pretty much in shambles.

To be honest, this show is actually worse than Queen's Blade, which at least showed some solid plot development. If you're going to watch an ecchi show with action, this show may be for you, but there are far better ones than this garbage. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou does better than this by multiple folds if you ask me.

Score: 4/10

I still watch it because I think its great and I have a lot of fun watching it. Just because it is so unrealistic and crazy.

The only thing I hate is Sashas behaviour against Mafuyu, whos clearly the hottest woman in this anime.
But hey when he gets oolder he will learn that big tits arent everything ^^

Aside from Chu-Bra!! this is the worst show I've seen this season, but definitely not in the general sense.

I agree but adding the general sense part.

It pains me to think the mangakas and studios are trying so desperatedly to make their new creations popular by mixing in so many genres etc, it always sickens me to see a crossover of shonen, shoujo, echii, and seinen all in one. (it wasnt "really" seinen but at least i got the feeling they were aiming for as broad an audience as they could get)

Anyhow too much echii and crossover between genres, its like bakuman when they went for a more shonen and then a more gag manga only to get serialised, in the end it wont amount to much. dry.gif

Qwaser, as expected, is a really awful show. 6 Episodes into the series and although the plot is pretty straightforward, the animation quality (even director's cut/uncensored) is very poor and the concept is terrible. The animation looks as if I'm watching something from the early 2000s while the concept reminds me far too much of Queen's Blade. The action scenes are relatively decent and the OP theme is enjoyable, but everything else is bad. The whole element thing and what a qwaser is or where they came from has no explanation thus far (I hope we get one later). In essence, for a 24 episode series, I'd rather go watch Element Hunters instead if I want to see something chemistry related dry.gif. Ecchi is one thing, but did they really have to go so low as to breast feeding as the source of power?

You know its really a good and especially funny anime if you watch it uncensored (thanks to a certain subgroup), because you dont miss important scenes. The only bad thing is the quality, but still better than censored.

But plotwise there isnt that much happening, whats pretty bad because its really interesting, but who knows, maybe it will get heated soon.
