Jul 17 2010 12:55 PM Just watched the final 2 episodes...
This show....was very very bad in many different ways. Qwaser had an awkward concept coming in to the season and in the end it really didn't have that much of a key role in the main plot...the idea of Souma and breast-sucking...All in all it's a fanservice show from beginning to end. Not to mention that the final 3 minutes of the show made no sense.
Animation? Considering the TV airings were all censored in various ways, the animation was poor with the way they censored despite being unique and the lack of "convenient censoring. Even though the web-streamed director's cut uncensored version fixes these issues, it traded not just quality of video but also details in the background animation. The blu-rays don't seem to fix this as far as I've seen. For a show airing in HD, one would think this show would at least have some decent art and animation....If anything, breasts in this show were in HD and detailed like no other for some strange reason.
I really didn't like the cast for this show...everyone's voice were so high-pitched it hurt my ears constantly. Despite the strong cast lineup, the roles themselves were awful. The music...was actually very good...or at least both opening themes. The ending themes....not so much. It's such a shame that Faylan's and YUI's talents had to go to waste on such a poor show.
Character development? Well there certainly was a lot on Mafuyu, Tomo, and Sasha for being the main protagonists of the show, but one thing that bugged me was Mutsumi's and Taisuki's roles. They were emphasized a lot in the second opening theme, but really only played major roles for about 1 or 2 episodes and yet did not even play a single role in the "important moments" of the final few episodes. As far as I'm concerned, they were just there...and more or less a plot device for Sasha's past.
Enjoyment? None. Absolutely none. I disliked the show from beginning to end and came into this show with already low expectations.
The plot itself is all over the place, the character development feels lackluster for a relatively large cast, the animation was poor and the "sound: was bad. Like I said before, the only redeeming factors are the OP themes and the bgms. Everything else was pretty much in shambles.
To be honest, this show is actually worse than Queen's Blade, which at least showed some solid plot development. If you're going to watch an ecchi show with action, this show may be for you, but there are far better ones than this garbage. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou does better than this by multiple folds if you ask me.
Score: 4/10
