In the 21st century, a family of vampires settled down on the grounds of Japan and lived a modest life whilst sucking on the blood of humans discreetly. However, the eldest daughter of the family, Karin Maaka, has an embarassing secret which cannot be revealed to anyone. Even though she is a vampire, she does not lack blood like her family members. Instead, she overproduces blood to the extent that she transfuses the excess into her victims, hence increasing their blood levels. Despite her troubling body characteristic, she attends school like any other high school student, that is until a new transfer student, Kenta Usui, enters her life.

This is a rather unique anime, the characters are granted at times sometimes strange and other times outright wierd but it gives it a distinctive attractiveness. One could compare it to school rumble in terms of the form of humour and it is an interesting notion about a vampire romance. i would recommend it. On a different note, awesome this is my first post ever tongue.gif.

2. Can someone explain the difference between the Manga storyline and the "love conquers all" ending of the anime.

The anime diverges from the manga with the introduction of Winner Sinclair, who isn't in the manga at all. So it's hard to compare the two from that point on. There are bits of story that crop up in both but AFAIK there's no equivalent to the anime ending in the manga, which is still ongoing. But maybe it will turn up eventually, for instance Maki character was initially largely ignored in the manga but around vol.8 started to get more detailed treatment like she did in the anime.

I was able to purchase the three US DVD releases of Karin before Geneon went bust and left many fans in the lurch. And I really like this series. I finished the series via a legit Malaysian 3 DVD set, which to my suprise was better made than the US release. I'd like to see the series entirely in english dub rather than having to switch to a semi correct english text halfway through.

1. does anyone know of any english dub from any region?

2. Can someone explain the difference between the Manga storyline and the "love conquers all" ending of the anime. I read many US comic book titles but Manga always seems to make me dizzy so I tend to watch animes instead of reading the Mangas... I don't know why...

Karin was and is an excelent series regardless of language and I hope there may be a series 2 someday. Dubbed in english with a fully released US series... dry.gif

And by the way. Yes, all humans enjoy the benefits of "fangs". Known in the dental world as canine teeth. They are one of three typs of teeth humans have. Incisors, in the front 8 of them for biting food directly. Canine, 4 for tearing meat, fat and skin, how about that vegitarians we're all geneticaly designed to eat animals. Lastly molars, for grinding all food to easily degestable portions.

No I'm not a dentist, but my father is and you can plainly see the phycological damage it has caused.

I felt that the ending of Karin was more of a "and they all lived happily ever after" thing. Although there was plenty left that they could have explored (especially subplots like Maki/Winner, and Anju's vampire escapades) I didn't feel like they left any uncertainty about the main plot: the vampire hunter was defeated and Karin & Kenta were confirmed as an item when she finally bit him.

The way that Karin ended is similar to how Kare Kano ended, as well as Ai Yori Aoshi, almost like a cliffhanger. From what I know they leave it up to the fans to decide what the ending will be, also the "True" ending lies with the manga version. Personally, based on previous posts, Midori no Hibi (Midori Days) is a series in which i dislike the way the manga ended, but prefer the anime ending, put them both together and you got a complete series.

It seems very unlikely, unfortunately.

- It's 2 years since Karin ended, but there's been no announcement or even rumour of a second series

- The series came to a definite conclusion which differed from the ongiong manga, making it difficult to continue it even though there's plenty of manga story available.

I do find it a bit surprising though, since I thought Karin was an excellent series and with the continuing popularity of the manga I'm sure there would be an audience for it even if they had to start afresh with a different continuity: other series have successfully done this, Negima for instance.

I just wanna know haw many series of Karin there are inspite of mine... 24

There is only one anime series, 24 episodes.

However there is also a manga version which is still ongoing, 11 volumes so far in Japan. (The English language version of the manga is sold under the name "Chibi Vampire", not "Karin".)
